TinyCat and MARC view

Looking at this https://www.librarycat.org/lib/bnielsen/item/24318647 and using MARC view

it displays
...
100 1 $aЗабелин, Игорь.
245 1 0 $aБез свидетелей.
...

I.e. it adds a period to author and title.

Is there a good reason for that or should I report it as a bug?

Hi there,

That's standard for MARC formatting, you'll see a period at the end of those fields (see Library of Congress: https://www.loc.gov/marc/bibliographic/bd100.html).

Please let me know if you have any further questions or if there's anything else I can do for you!

Thank you,
Zeph

>2 ZephCraven: Thanks. I was just curious. The link https://www.loc.gov/marc/bibliographic/bd100.html especially without the parentheses is nice because it has a lot of examples.
The MARC view is really nice because it mixes information from the book layer and the work layer.

Hmm. Now I've explored this a bit more. So I have new questions :-)

https://www.librarycat.org/lib/bnielsen/item/57282887

displays as this:

Klæde og kalemanke : på sporet af det glemte rokokotøj
by Gunnar Jespersen
Paper Book, 1979

but if I take a look in the MarcView, I get:

245 1 0 $aKld̆e og kalemanke : $bp ̄sporet af det glemte rokokotj̜ / $caf Gunnar Jespersen ; tegninger og vignetter af forfatteren.

I.e. the charset seems to have gone wrong somewhere.

So the title in 245 is taken from somewhere else than my library.

The work page also looks fine:

https://www.librarything.com/work/9648016/57282887

(I should add that I have lots of books with æ, ø, å in the title and author name and they show up fine in the MarcView, so it is not a general problem.)
