Hi I am looking to export an entire collection from one LT account to a new LT account. Is there anyway to do this that preserves things like Tags, Covers, Other Call Number etc. or am I stuck with manually updating these things in my new account?
I know MARC has an "Other Call Number" field, but when I tried to export/import it did not preserve this field.
Thanks!

There is presently no way to export then import into a new account. A long running request for that feature has been around since at least 2010.

>2 gilroy: Not really true, per se. You would need to modify your Excel export from LibraryThing to match our custom .csv file for importing, or you could try a MARC export-import. You're right in that we do not yet have a full export-import loop (something I've been dying to have myself since I've been here).
>1 SHC_Library: You can import your Tags and custom Call Numbers into another account, from an export, but not custom covers I'm afraid.
ETA: ah, the MARC export and custom Call Number, let me check on that really quick.

Re: MARC Export and custom Call Number, we should be exporting those, per https://wiki.librarything.com/index.php/HelpThing:MARC_export
Let me do some testing with your account. Which Collection are you trying to move?

>3 kristilabrie: From their initial request, it looked like they were requesting a complete export and then import loop. Which is why I answered the way I did.

>6 gilroy: Totally understood, just want to make sure they have some of the information that might help in the meantime.

>1 SHC_Library: You're completely right: it looks like your custom call numbers aren't getting included in our MARC Export. I'm going to draw up a bug report and link it here in just a few, so you can track it.
In the meantime, our Excel export does include both Tags and the Other (custom) Call Number fields, so you can always modify that to fit our sample .csv import file (from https://www.librarything.com/import ) and import the Collection to a new account. We just don't have a way to import custom Covers at the moment. Let me know if you have any questions about the custom .csv import process.

I don't have many custom covers, just the ones that are associated with the LT items already. Does the database automatically pull those covers at some point, or is there a way to force them to pull the covers? The titles are linked to the LT records that contain tons of covers already, but since I imported and did not go through the "Add Books" process I guess it doesn't automatically pull those covers?
I will try the Excel export/ .csv import and let you know how that goes

>10 SHC_Library: If you have ISBNs, LibraryThing will do its best to pull everything it can: this also means that some of your data might get overwritten during the import process, e.g. publication data etc., depending on what the search finds by ISBN in the data source/s you choose for the import. I think imports might take a day or so to have covers show up, but I'll double check.
