Just finished Lord of the World by Robert Hugh Benson. Rather a strange book. It's a dystopian novel written in 1907 which is prescient in some ways, predicting genocidal authoritarian populist regimes built around the cult of a charismatic leader, but the religious component which runs through it is rather odd to say the least.

>1 John5918: Now is not the time for dystopian novels, I fear. I just finished Prophet Song, and while it was obviously extremely well written, it was almost too difficult to read now, in 2025, in the USA.

I just finished Erasure, and I'm envisioning the reactions of many of our book club members to the language and the content. I enjoyed it a lot.

I just finished The Woman They Could Not Silence which was enraging. So now I am going to read something cozy.
