Any thoughts as to what hit McCaleb at the end of Chapter 27, why did he suddenly need to get to the car?

The only thing I can think of, is that the poster for the blood drive struck a chord with McCaleb, and that he’s hastening to the car to get to the documents he has in his case. It’s my guess he wants to check Cordell’s blood group.
