I have read each of their books at least once. I mean the ones from the Hornblower, Bolitho, Ramage, & the Master & Commander series.

Anyone else out there who has a similar obsession?

I've read all but the latest of Julian Stockwin's books.

The Hornblower series has alluded me so far - need to keep a weather eye at the library for them. Have watched the series, though, and enjoyed them.

O'Brien, to my frustration, I could not read or listen to. The language he used drives me crazy trying to decipher. Loved Master and Commander and very much wanted to read the books.

(Very much like Christie - love the work but can't read 'em to save me life!)

I'm always on the lookout for a good sea faring story, though.

While Hornblower is not the first heroic Captain of the age of Wooden Ships and Iron Men, or Napoleonic wars to have been written, he certainly is the granddaddy of all the others in the field.

Stockwin, Kent, Pope, Woodman, Thomas, Lambdin and O'Brien all have success because of the work C.S. Forester did.
