Recently I have noticed an increase in the number of suspicious member accounts which are most definitely spam which I have been flagging. There are 2 types of spam accounts which I have observed an increase in the last 2 weeks:
The first type are obvious and are accounts that have a business's logo as the profile, the accounts have no books in their library, and the "about my library" section on the account's profile is a description of the business and their website.
The second type of spam accounts I have notices are less obvious but noticeable. All the accounts are identical in nature with the profile picture being of a young black woman, the name of the account being (Random Name)Links, the member's library having no books, and the "About my library page" on the profiles being a series of links to sites ending with irregular domain endings (.biz, .bid, etc.).
As of this message I have noted all the accounts that have been flagged have been removed, but there has been more popping up (I'm seeing 3-4 a day). If you come across one of these profiles please do not click on the links and flag said profile.

Most of us will not see spam profiles unless the spam member also spams talk, in which case they will be dealt with in very short order. If you see spam in talk, flag it and Do Not Reply. A topic with only one message totally disappears when there are 4 flags. Unless it is author spam, the profile should also be flagged.

>1 NKillham: I’ve been wanting to point staff to those Links profiles, but also wanting to remove them as soon as possible.
I’m sure they could tweak the algorithm to keep them from even being created. I just knocked down 9 this morning.

Occasionally the flush is sluggish. Today is like that. If you want to add your flag, this is the page I work from

For a batch of bad profiles of this nature, you might want to gather those you've found and add them to the Spam Fighting Group Profile Smash thread:
