Pliaese accept me as a member of the group. I like Librarything because I learned to read and write by assembling movable type in my family's small print shop shortly after World War II in a small town in southern Italy. I studied languages and communications, and from paper I moved to digital after discovering hypertext. I'm navigating the "fifth twenty years", (we call this "ventennio" in Italian). Before leaving the world, I hope to write my final book, which will be entitled "My Fifth Twenty Years - "Ventennio".

My goodness! Another letterpress printer! I wonder how many LTers also know how to hold a composing stick?

I started setting type when I was eight and continued in letterpress into my twenties until I moved into paste up at an offset printer. I love type and still miss working with it.

May you live to issue a revised edition of your final book!

>2 librorumamans: What a delightful surprise to encounter a fellow practitioner of the noble art! Indeed, there seem to be more of us LTers who've felt the weight of a composing stick than one might expect. Starting at eight - how wonderful! Those early years must have given you an intimate understanding of letterforms that few possess today.

The transition from hand-setting to paste-up marked such a pivotal moment in our craft's history. While offset brought efficiency, there's something irreplaceable about the tactile relationship with metal type - the careful spacing, the satisfying 'click' of justified lines, the particular rhythm of composition that becomes second nature.

Your kind wishes for a revised edition touch me deeply. At my age, (1939) every book feels potentially final, yet the hope persists that there might be one more story to tell, one more contribution to make to our shared passion for the printed word.

Thank you for reaching out - it's always a joy to connect with someone who truly understands the magic that happens when ink meets paper through the ancient alchemy of letterpress."

This is where I'm hoping to visit those weekend, although it's a fair drive from where I live.
