ohiolink library, z3950 access is gone

Emails to Ohiolink library tech support: Z3950 access is gone. New ILS system and they do not foresee having open-access availability of their library catalog.

Well, that sucks.

Removed. Thanks for the report.

They were never my first, or ever fourth or fifth choice of source, but there were some books that I found there when the other sources didn't work. Apparently I used them for about 1% of my entries. I'll miss having that option.

OhioLink libraries went to Alma. I'll keep my eye out to see if the union catalog shows up on the EXL list.

>6 davidgn: Maybe; but there are a LOT of OhioLink libraries. There's probably a number of them in the sources list already.

>7 lesmel: Maybe not independently, since they were all in OhioLink. But worth a check. Adding the major unis for now.

>8 davidgn: Looks like maybe 40 sources. Unless the libraries know they need to activate z39.50 (or have chosen SRU only), someone is probably going to have to ask the libraries about their z39.50 status.

>9 lesmel: Looks like Toledo, Bowling Green, OSU, and Ursuline are good to go. CWRU will need credentials. Will start a thread in the other group.

And...OhioLINK is back. Along with individual listings for most of its member libraries that @lesmel and I added before I figured out how to get it back. (Credit to @lesmel for research that suggested it was worth trying.) So unless they set a password to lock us out, we're golden. And if they do, I'll finish adding the rest of the individual members.

You're welcome.

>11 davidgn: Update: looks like they kicked us out after all. Most member libraries are already entered individually, and most of them working.

>17 navistar96: What they said. We've got most of the constituent members up and running. It's the whole-network search that is giving trouble (i.e. worked briefly, and now doesn't), because it's either password-protected or throwing auth errors for some other reason.
