Did Kelly have any option but to go the loan shark? Any initial thoughts on Kai Lord?

Kai Lord was Kelly’s pimp and he charged her quite a bit of money. She had no choice but to go to a loan shark to make payments to Kai.

A pimp is pimp, and his objective is to make money, not loan money to his 'girls". She did the only thing she could do.

Tragic she needed money for her daughter and did not have too many options

Kelly had indeed run out of options and it is desperate people who end up in the hands of loan sharks.

I have to agree with >3 Carol420:. Pimps are all about the exploitation of women. But, Kelly felt like she had no option but to borrow the money.

I differ slightly from the previous comments, in that I think Kelly could have swallowed her pride and gone to her mother for help.
I’d judge Kai Lord to be vicious, uncaring and manipulative.

Should have swallowed her pride and gone to her mother, but perhaps she was naive enough not to realize what it would mean to accept money from Kai Lord.
