I recently finished The Emperor of Gladness by Ocean Vuong which was really good. The only author who can make CT beautiful. Also read Like Family by Erin O. White. It was just ok despite high hopes.

I’m re-reading Mary Renault’s The Charioteer.
And I just finished Box Hill: a story of low self-esteem, by Adam Mars-Jones, on which the recently released film Pillion is (very loosely) based.

Thanks for the reminder of The Charioteer. It's a Mary Renault that I've never read and therefore always supposed was set in the distant past like the Alexander trilogy.
(Although at 400 pages, it's past my upper limit these days. When I was a wisp of a thing, 450 or 500 pages were nothing. I may have grown in wisdom [kidding!], but not in attention span.)

Thanks for the quick and easy; the 400 pages bit came from the sole copy (1973) in the Toronto Public system.
