Kerry is leaving tomorrow for a couple of days, so hopefully I can get a ton of reading done in the meantime.

Thanks again, Silver!

I will participate. I have a cold so plan on staying home and doing lots of napping. Until Sunday, when the Bell Choir has two concerts lined up.

Thank you for the thread, SilverWolf28! Yes, I'd love to participate. I'm looking to conclude a few more open titles, both soft-bound and audiobook. Also have something on Kindle, but may have to push that to next week, depending on how much time I get to sit this weekend. It's chilly here, so I'm not as tempted as usual to be running around outdoors!

Saturday Startup
Books read from: I am reading Language of Trees by Ilie Ruby and West With Giraffes by Lynda Rutledge. My continuous reading book is Katharine Graham's Washington by Katharine Graham. I am listening to American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins.

Books finished: Language of Trees by Ilie Ruby

Book Thoughts: Language of Trees turned out to be an intense novel. In some ways it was a suspense thriller. It was also a murder mystery but it was all wrapped up in a novel set in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York on the old Seneca nation lands. It turned out to be a very well done novel about addictions and domestic abuse. There was lots of magical realism in it and that might make it hard for some people to read.

Activities: I was struck by a pestilence this week. On Friday I didn't move off of the couch. I had a fever and didn't even want to read. I just laid there like a sack of potatoes. I had planned on a baking weekend, but don't feel like doing any of that.

Reading Time Today: 1 hours
Time listening:
Time posting:
Food: left over Indian food. It was mighty tasty for being left over.
Total books finished since the Read-A-Thon Began: 553
Total Time Reading since the Social Distancing read-a-thon began: 1704 hours since I started doing the weekend Read-A-Thon starting in April of 2020.

Mid-way update:

Books read from:
- Night Watch (Pulitzer Prize Winner): A novel
- Code Talker: The First and Only Memoir By One of the Original Navajo Code Talkers of WWII
- The Green Berets
Books finished: Night Watch - meh, didn't enjoy, read for a bookgroup

Snacks: Am about to eat some date walnut cookies to complement my chai.
Thoughts: Still haven't figured out how to exercise with an audiobook, other than walking. Will give it another go this afternoon when I pick up a mystery.

Sunday morning

Books:
BIBLIOMANCER’S DAUGHTER
Finding this slow to progress. Not much happening but I’m 2/3 through so I’ll finish.
A MACCALLISTER CHRISTMAS
This one is non-stop action but not so much about Christmas yet and I’m half-way through.

Paella family dinner at my sister’s house yesterday. I made the flan for dessert.

Sunday Report
Books read from: I am reading West With Giraffes by Lynda Rutledge. My continuous reading book is Katharine Graham's Washington by Katharine Graham. I am listening to American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins.

Books finished: Language of Trees by Ilie Ruby

Book Thoughts: My real life book discussion group is meeting today on Zoom and we will be talking about Language of Trees. It will be interesting to hear what the others have to say about this novel. It certainly has lots of things to talk about in it. I haven't done much reading in the last two days. I have been doing lots of sleeping. I have been struck by a pestilence and so have stayed at home and slept. My fever finally broke last night with the help of extra strength Tylenol so I am feeling much better.

Activities: I didn't go to church today and slept late this morning. I have the Bell Choir concert this afternoon and there is a part of me that thinks I shouldn't go, but I am the only person who can play my part. We don't have any extras to substitute for me. I will take more aspirin and go.

Weekend Summary:

Books Read From: Assassin's Quest by Robin Hobb, Walter Benjamin at the Dairy Queen by Larry McMurtry
Books Finished: Assassin's Quest
Pages read: 600-ish

It's funny - I had read Hobb's trilogy back when they were new & the only thing I had remembered about them was that I had enjoyed them, so this reread was almost like reading them for the first time.

Glad everyone is feeling better, sorry for the less-than-perfect health the last couple of weeks. Tis the Season...?? Hang in there! Less than a week now to more sunlight (apologies to our down under friends)...

Books read from ... and finished ...
- Night Watch (Pulitzer Prize Winner): A novel
- The Green Berets
- The Fire Thief: Dark Paradise Mystery Series, Book 1
... and as yet unfinished ...
- Code Talker: The First and Only Memoir By One of the Original Navajo Code Talkers of WWII
- The Magic Mountain

Thoughts: Mentally I'm trying to be The Little Engine that Could, but in reality, I'm my usual Tootle-y-self: off track and playing with butterflies in the meadow!
Non-book activities: Making reservations and fretting about the gaps in doggy-care.

Total books finished: 3
Total read from: 5
Total time reading: Not overly much, let's say 12-15, remembering that I can fold laundry and walk the dog while listening to an audiobook that's not too involved...and knowing that I'm slow as molasses with books like The Magic Mountain!

Weekend Wrapup
Books read from: I am reading West With Giraffes by Lynda Rutledge. My continuous reading book is Katharine Graham's Washington by Katharine Graham. I started a new computer book - Walking It Off by Doug Peacock. I am listening to American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins and Bruno and the Carol Singers by Martin Walker.

Books finished: Language of Trees by Ilie Ruby

Book Thoughts: I haven't really felt like reading much. I think that Long Summer Day took all of my reading power and it is going to take me a few weeks to recover. I read some but it is in short bursts. West With Giraffes is a good story but it doesn't hold my interest like it should.

Activities: I am so glad that yesterday is over. It was too busy for a person who was sick. The Bell Choir performance was a disaster. The choir was never together and we bungled both songs. It was so bad that it was noticeable. I was happy to get home and back to being warm and early to bed. I do feel better today and got some financial work done this afternoon.

Reading Time Today: 1 hours
Time listening:
Time posting:
Food: left over Indian food. Again - but it was mighty tasty for being left over.
