The costumes and implements featured in this cover seem to be a real grab-bag of styles, times, and cultures. I guess The Scroll is a kind of Ecumenical and Multicultural sort of artifact?

In any case, the hood with the torch is definitely going to catch it from Boots McGraw.

And then what's B McG going to do with that stupid-looking sword? No way that's ever going into a scabbard.

“You hippies are not going to stage Burning Man on my watch!”

"Uh, guys? A little help here!"

Maybe the cowled folk were just luring B McG to toss him into the Wicker Man.

They needed a true Scotsman with a real sword.

You'd think the hooded guy with the rapier on the far right would be *slightly* more alarmed at this Scotsman rushing toward his friend with a giant hunk of metal masquerading as a sword? He just looks like he's impatiently waiting in line for his turn to warm his hands on the bonfire.

And the Wicker Man here looks as though it's made of Shredded Wheat.
