Author with similar name

Apologies if I'm posting in the wrong group, but the discussions here seem to be closest to helping me solve my issue. I just added a book by W.C. Bryant. Not William Cullen Bryant, but a living author whose first name is W.C. and I cannot get his book/name to be unaffiliated with the famed poet. I've tried auto importing, manual creation, etc. with no luck.

Could someone please point me to the steps (talk, wiki, blog, etc.) with how to add an original author? I feel like I am fighting an app that thinks it's being helpful, but really I've lost over an hour trying to do what I want.

While many of the conversations here have been over my head and I don't understand the lingo yet, I appreciate everyone who it thinking about LT at this level. I know it can get confusing when looking at works and books (and I guess authors?) at the atomic level like this.

It's quite common for "initials + surname" to need splitting.
