2026 began with The Lonely Man: A Short Story by Ann Cleeves, not her best work...

Have just finished Still Waters by E. C. R. Lorac which was quite good. First published in 1949, and recently re-released, I enjoy these mysteries for the social history as much as the plot or the writing.

Will start today: The Hallmarked Man by Robert Galbraith.

Hope to read more British crime fiction/mysteries this year. I have some of my favourite authors' works requested at my local library, so just have to be patient.

I don't know why I haven't read anything about Nicci French before, because I quite enjoyed The Lying Room.

I just finished and really liked Blue Monday by Nicci French. It's the first in their Frieda Klein series.

I've recently read two very entertaining, "light" murder mysteries by S. J. Bennett: The Windsor Knot and All the Queen's Men and enjoyed them both.

I just finished The Killing Stones by Ann Cleeves and though it dragged a bit, I enjoyed it and didn't guess the killer!
