looking for queer Jane Austen variations

Hello readers,

I am in search of LGBTQ fiction based on the novels of Jane Austen. Retellings, variations, continuations, anything goes as long as it shares the original setting and the focus is on a queer romance.
I'm not so much looking to read everything you can throw at me (though I probably will if it looks interesting) but curious about what is already out there since I am working on something like this myself.

There seem to be quite a few false positives there, but one or two that look as though they fit.

You're right, most of them don't really fit, but some do. Especially Gay Pride and Prejudice - couldn't get more obvious really 🙄

There's a gender shifted Emma retelling, called James Fairfax I have it tagged as queer but cannot remember much as read years ago. My vague memories say it wasn't awful but it wasn't great either.

Ann Herendeen did a queered up P+P called Pride/Prejudice a novel of forbidden lovers with darcy and Bingley looking for lavender marriage.

I must say that considering the number of straight Austen variations I have come across without even trying, queer ones are harder to find than I expected (if I wanted contemporary retellings it would be another matter).

Found another while hunting - an ebook novella about Wickham's outsider status being due to homophobia Considering George from "mr Peter Grahame and one other" on amazon.

And yeah, I love kjc as well, I probably would never have read - let alone written - a romance novel if my Kobo subscription hadn't kept suggesting I try Slippery Creatures.

I just - more or less by accident - came across The Unlikely Pursuit of Mary Bennet. Mary Bennet and Charlotte Lucas seem to be favourites for Austen variations, so inevitably there had to be one which brings them together...

By now I've read a number of the books mentioned here. Some fun premises and interesting ideas, but oh, the anachronisms...

I would never have seen it otherwise and loved it (wish it had been long enough to see Charlotte Lucas-as-was settling into the household)
