Were you surprised at how many victims there were? Is Russell to blame or his parents?
2Olivermagnus
There's plenty of blame to go around. They all deserved to spend their lives in prison. I can believe there were so many victims. It was only an accident that Shaun and Terry's deaths were caught by the pathologist.

No, as there are plenty of horrible parents who abuse their children and the cycle just goes round and round. No one is to blame as they are doing to their children what has been done to them.

I can’t say I was surprised by the number of people Russell had done away with. He’s killed two and tortured Jennifer in the short timescale of this story, so 12 years worth of victims would easily be reflected by this.
His parents are responsible for creating the monster, but Russell himself is responsible for taking it to the extreme of murder, he took the decision to do that.

ps
What I don’t quite get is, if Russell was kept locked in the basement, how, at the age of 17, did he manage to get hold of something that could knock his parents out…?

>5 Sergeirocks: I wondered this, how did he manage to turn the table on them.

They are all to blame. There are 1000s of children abused, and most do not go on to abuse themselves, in fact many proactively set about trying to help abuse and stop abuse from happening.
