Hello to all you professionals!
I recently acquired a book which has two volumes in one, Merit of the Horse in Islam & Sketches on Courses of the Highest Breeding.
I am generally fairly good at DDC classification, but I am at a loss as to where to class this book. The Merit of the Horse in Islam is the sticky part.
Because I have a great interest in Arabian horses, I would normally classify this in 636.11, but I'm not sure how to include the religious aspect? Horses are very important in Islamic culture, especially in the Middle East.
Any suggestions? DDC for the Islam part would appear to be 363.69 (cultural heritage?).
Edit to add: this 2 volume in one book set is not found in LOC, and World Cat notes 'No libraries with WorldCat.org subscription hold this item.'

If you were to give me a 20 word synopsis about the book, what would be the main subject? Alternatively, choose the DDC you prefer b/c it's your library and classification, like all cataloging, is at the "cataloger's discretion."

>2 lesmel: The first book Merit of the Horse in Islam is about how the Prophet Mohammed explains the cultural importance of (Arabian) horses to Islam.
The second book, Sketches on Courses of the Highest Breeding is about breeding Arabian horses.
My dilemma is that the two books are equal in weight in one sense, but both deal with Arabian horses.
So I would assign the 2 books in one volume to 636.11, but how can I add 'cultural importance of horses to Islam'? 636.11???
