Currently reading The Ghost Riders of Ordebec by Fred Vargas...who, incidentally, is a woman. If you haven't read any of her work...you're missing out on some great "down the rabbit hole" adventures...oy

If you’re interested in finding people who read similar books, one way to do that is to look at their profile - it will tell you how many books you share in your libraries. You’ll want to have more books in yours for that to be effective, though.

Thank you..I've added more books as suggested.

No one in this Group reads the books that I do....and I don't follow the Popular People...and I don't kiss ass

>9 drneutron: I bought the entire SLOW HORSES books on Amazon, from the UK (Baskerville Press)...I haven't seen the TV adaptations....SMILLA"S SENSE OF SNOW I read shortly after it was published, dog years ago....thank you for posting here..

Welcome to the group Tiss.
One benefit to this particular group is that we all go at our own pace, nobody pressures anybody else whilst at the same time being friendly.
>8 TSSTxym: Don't know about that because I love Scandi (Sjowall was the pioneer with Wahloo), Vargas and Herron are also well featured on my shelves.

>12 TSSTxym: You are welcome, Tiss.
See you are currently reading Adamsberg #7.
Which would be your favourite detective series?
I would probably chose the Andrea Camilleri Inspector Montelbano books as my absolute favourite with the completely different Inspector Wallender by Henning Mankell just behind.

>13 PaulCranswick:. Have never read the Montelbano books. Read a lot of Henning Mankell years ago....don't remember them but I have Old Lady Brain...
A few series I've read over the past year or two are:
James Sallis (Lew Griffin)
John Brady (Matt Minogue)...I'm half-Irish and love his books to death
Karin Fossum (Inspector Sejer).....more Scandi-crime
Thank you for responding to my posts.

I hope your legs are not giving you trouble still.

I've added more cookbooks to my Library...yes, there will be ones that are Vegan...I am not following any diet ( or the dreaded word DIET) but vegan cookbooks have taught me much about flavoring food....Plant proteins don't have the same flavor as animal (no muscle mass and fat) so seasonings have a bit of a job to do....over&out...T

Well The Ghost Riders of Ordebec has been kicking my butt lately...not because I don't like it....but old age issues are keeping me from reading as much as I like....T

For some reason the Fred Vargas books are difficult to find here in Malaysia. I have read the first in the series but never managed to get to anymore after that.
22TSSTxym
>21 PaulCranswick: The Fred Vargas books aren't readily available in the USA either...I buy British copies from Better World Books for relatively cheap...oy

Nice to see you posting Tiss and I hope the health issues get themselves gone. xx

>24 PaulCranswick: I'm 75 years old...I deal with the issues, as long as I can get around and do what I have to do...every day. Thank you for the comment.

>25 TSSTxym: I am sixty at the beginning of September and it already feels like a watershed milestone for me.

Isn't it great? I am the oldest in my office by a considerable margin but still regarded as a whipper-snapper in these parts!

I’m 64 and one of the older people at work. Except for the guy who’s in his nineties and still working. He started at my employer in 1959, three years before I was born!

>29 drneutron:. Jeesh, I've been retired since 2005...am 75 and have no clue what the regular "work force" is about. I was a waitress/bar tender most of my working life...64? you're still a youngster, sir....lol

>29 drneutron: & >29 drneutron: I am always happy to defer to my more experienced friends!
