Interesting in a way; a few common myths debunked and more important ones reinforced. Domino theory? Christ on a stick that was hokum in 1960.

Yes. I suppose if you served in Vietnam, and especially if you had friends killed there, it's unbearable to believe that nothing was accomplished by your sacrifice.
The 'domino theory' was rendered non-operative by the Indonesian slaughter of the very large Indonesian Communist Party, and others, in 1965-66.

>3 Doug1943: Back in the early 2k's, I was sitting in the Virginia Beverage Company in Alexandria (Va.) between this active-duty Army major and a guy who had earlier introduced himself a Marine vet of the Vietnam War. As the major prattled on and on about the strategic non-relevance of Vietnam, the vet was visibly getting more and more pissed off, and I was wishing I was somewhere else! Eventually it dawned on the officer that the sooner he stopped digging the hole he was in the better off it would be for all concerned!
