Why do you think there were no defensive wounds on the body? Do you think he could have ‘co-operated in his death? If so, why?

Charlie Marrick may have been incapable of defending himself….drink or drugs maybe. The victim seemed to know his killer and co-operated in his own death.

I agree with >2 EadieB:. He might have also been "surprised" about the attack.

I’m surmising there might be a sect out there, somewhere, that are enacting the ancient monks’ practice of voluntary blood-letting. But, as in the prologue, it may stray too far (intentionally or otherwise), and may even become sacrificial.
