Following Neil’s discussion with Lenny and Diane at the start of Chapter 9 did you have any further thoughts about the author of the letters?

Lenny had mentioned to Neil that the site was of great evil and the last letter had spoken of evil. That made me suspicious of Lenny.

I tend to agree that Lenny's very personal agenda leading to regular clashes with Neil makes him a prime suspect here.

I thought of Lenny

I’m still not convinced as to whether this is Lenny. I think he’s too obsessed with the pre-Christian/pagan possibilities of the site. Why would he be interested in Brother William?
On the other hand, I feel Diane is a possibility. She seemed to go quiet when the letter was mentioned. And why get Neil to go out at night to retrieve her purse from the site office when she could easily get it next morning?
