What do you think they had encountered when they went looking for Diane’s purse? Do you feel this was all a ruse by Diane?

I thought the figure was Lenny, communing with whatever spirits he thought might be remain from his believed pagan site.
Diane’s action was definitely contrived, though I’m not certain as to her motive.
