please separate 2 "John A. Knox", and link 1 "John Knox" to 1 "John A. Knox"

I might be able to do this right if I had a whole day without interruptions, but since I don't anticipate having that day any time soon I'm here to ask:

With regards to Meteorology: Understanding the Atmosphere by Steven A. Ackerman and John A. Knox, would someone please separate John A. Knox to distinguish between the one who co-authored this work and the one who wrote Never the Less?

And then would someone please join/point/link the "John Knox" identified as co-author of some editions of Meteorology: Understanding the Atmosphere with the now-separated "John A. Knox" who coauthored it?

No. The John A. Knox page should be split, which I have done. There do not appear to be any editions of Meteorology on the John Knox author page, so there is nothing to link.

Also, here's the correct touchstone for Never the Less.

Could you please remind me of the difference between "separate" and "split" in this context?

I came at the knowledge that led to that request by a different route. If I go to https://www.librarything.com/work/13593716/t/Meteorology-Understanding-the-Atmos... and look under "Author Information", there is 1 "John Knox" listed as "some editions". Are there no editions of Meteorology: Understanding the Atmosphere on the John Knox author page because it's a secondary author?

I have combined the two Meteorology works.

Author separation is when 2 separate records had been combined by mistake or due to incomplete data (for example John Knox and John A. Knox are usually not combined because for example there is also John S. Knox who also publishes as John Knox. If they were combined at one point, we would have needed to separate them and then you have separate author records; then the common John Knox will need splitting and aliasing).

When the same record belongs to 2 different people, we need to split the author as there is no other way (currently) to have 2 separate author records when they share a name/URL.

>4 MarthaJeanne: Thank you! (I thought I'd be able to pull that one off by myself once the authors were straightened out, so I didn't add that to my ask ... but I appreciate you noticing and doing it.)
