There's an extra week to summer in the US this year (Memorial Day was early and Labor Day is late). What 1001 books are you tackling with the extra summer time?

I've started Manon des sources and might get to Death and the Dervish as well.

>2 ELiz_M: Manon des sources is one of my very favourites. If you can read Jean de Florette, I recommend it since it precedes it.

They were also made into movies, first Manon des sources by Pagnol himself who directed the film and in which Jacqueline Pagnol, his wife, stars. Then both books were filmed in the 1980s with Gérard Depardieu, Yves Montand, Emmanuelle Béart and Daniel Auteuil, all excellent actors.

Need to decide on a new audiobook but probably Money: A Suicide Note. I'm still working my way laboriously through Rob Roy

Going on vacation and will bring Animal Farm for a re-read, Villette - my penultimate Bronte and Les Misérables - because I need to start it eventually!

I have read The Tartar Steppe by Dino Buzzati and Passing by Nella Larsen so far this month.
I've also been slowly working on The Last Temptation of Christ by Nikos Kazantzakis.

I’m reading The Guiltless by Hermann Broch and enjoying it more than I expected to, so far.
