Summer Sale 2026?

Has this much enjoyed tradition been discontinued? Usually at this time of year I'd be working out where to shelve new purchases but June is wearing on and I've seen no mention of sale dates. I know there is a pop-up sale scheduled for 4th July and I think, in past years, this followed the sale.

I think the sale started on the 16th June last year so hopefully we will see an announcement soon.

Past sales, usually someone has been able to ask customer service and confirm there will be a sale. Has anyone been able to get confirmation this time around?

I asked, response was: Regrettably, I've not yet had any confirmed sale dates for this year, though I apologise for any inconvenience.

I hope we might have better news soon!

Someone on the Fans of The Folio Society Facebook group just said customer service told them there won't be a summer sale this year...

Wow. I'd been looking forward to the summer sale for weeks. I feel absolutely dismayed.

>7 zorg2099: not entirely surprised if this is true. The sales have been very lackluster for several years now, in my opinion (aside from the LE sales). I haven’t found myself picking up anything on sale as the money saved is inconsequential compared to, say, the price of shipping. And generally the books I want aren’t on sale.

Although you would think it is still a good marketing strategy to get eyes on their products.

>9 PJ-Reads: I was personally pleased with the selections for the winter sale. I picked up the Brooke LE as well as Blake's Songs of Innocence & and of Experience. Everest was also a book I probably wouldn't have looked at full price. And I think the flash sales did well too and sold out very quickly for the most part. I think a lot of people are disappointed as the sale is a good opportunity to pick up titles like that and save on shipping together with more in demand titles you might be interested in.

I usually put a lot of sale books into my cart, realize they aren’t on my want list and I was just opportunity-buying, and then clear the cart.

My wish-list is fairly large haha so there's a decent chance something on it will be on sale.

Just a small update, someone else did post a screenshot of the email they got on the FB group and the exact phrasing was "Unfortunately, we haven't got any info on there being a summer sale this year, sorry, but it is indeed the pop up sale!"...

That possibly leaves the door open to the fact management simply haven't informed CS of any plans but that might just be wishful thinking.

>7 zorg2099: Well that's disappointing. Even when the selections aren't great for me, there's always someone with a happy purchase in the sales threads.
I wonder if it could be related to the EU changing their import rules and the inevitable ensuing chaos this July? Not sure how much their business is to the EU vs the UK/anglosphere, to where it would matter enough to cancel it. Just a thought.

Given the rise in international shipping costs, I wouldn't be surprised if they were taking a bath on this given the discounts and the propensity for large multi-book orders that come with these sales.

They seem to be selling new titles easily without a sale. They may have simply judged it unnecessary at this time.

What a pity. I, like zorg2099, often added full-price books to a sale order, to reduce the shipping cost. I hope this doesn't bode ill for the New Year's sale.

But I must admit that I don't find any must-have books available at present anyway, other of course than the ones I already have. There are a few maybe's, but an order from me this summer was looking unlikely.

Hold the purchases. They'll do a sale when they realise they aren't shifting enough inventory.

Increase prices by 30%. When sales slip, have a summer sale at 30% off.

They just sent around an email that the mystery book is back:
“Starting from 8am at your local time on 24 June buy two or more Folio books and we'll include a mystery book completely free.”

Maybe they want to get rid of some inventory that way.

I remember that years ago you actually had to pay 9,99£ for the mystery book.
Although the possibility of you not liking it, can be high.
How many items of Get Shorty are still in the Folio basement?

The Rupert Brooke LE will have to wait for the New Year sale to clear if there is no summer sale. For anyone disappointed, I would point out that the New Year sale is normally the better one with 50% discounts

This news is a bit of a bummer. I was hoping to get "Alamein" from the Great Battle series.

However this is good relief for my bank account. I've been buying too many books on the secondary market lately, now that the prices have really come down.
