Is the horse giving him the side-eye, or her? Judging from the cover and the blurb, she's the designated Pain in the Ass. (Or on the ass. Horse. Whatever.)

I keep looking at Sergeant Thorolf and wondering if it's his left foot on the stone or his right one.

And if he thought putting one foot on a stone would give him a Heroic Pose, he should think again.

His boots are not only fugly, they don't even match in height.

Where are her other limbs? Under the skirt, I guess. Gotta admit that being octopoid would help with both styling that glorious hair and pounding booze enough to get quickly pixilated.

@bam2001: Horse does seem to be looking upwards, but the FOV of horses may mean he can see and disapprove of both of them.

Just the usual feet problem. Horsie's and damsel's are hidden, and he's got dorky boots.*

The rendering of cloth and hair is very good, though. If he had normal swashbuckler boots, and the blurb wasn't at odds with the cover (and a spoiler to boot), we'd have much less to complain about.

I'm wondering if another reason the horse is giving side-eye is that she keeps swiping its currycomb to backtease her hair.

"Pixilated" seems sort of a weak term to describe "turned into an octopus."
