Happy second half of the year!!!
I just wanted to get my new thread up and running, but I probably won't be posting much right away because my daughter will be visiting for a few days. Hopefully we'll get in some much-needed beach time!

Just adding one review for a book that will most likely make my best reads of the year list in December.

I hope to get back to posting reviews sometime tomorrow. I survived the holiday weekend, and the incredible storm the night of the 4th. My daughter and I were on the beach watching fireworks across the bay when the first insane gusts of wind blew through. It took me 4 days to get all the sand out of my hair. (I'm not kidding.) We ended up watching lightning bolts for entertainment instead. (From inside the house.)

>15 clamairy: Pratchett was brilliant and this book is brilliant too :D

>17 clamairy: This is useful information! Thank you. Moving it up on the TBR pile.

>14 clamairy: Oh my - sounds like the wonderful storms that knocked out my power last Friday night danced their way right to you! Glad you were able to get inside quickly and stay safe. I don't doubt that you were still pawing sand out of your hair 4 days later - those winds were nothing to play with.
I've had Guards! Guards! on my TBR list for some time. I will gladly make this one my next Pratchett. :)

>20 terriks: Yes, they made a beeline right from your house to mine! I've heard of several people who were without power or internet for four or five days after the storms. At least it wasn't still 98°, but it must have been very unsettling. Hope you enjoy the Pratchett!
>21 Karlstar: It was! I will be revisiting it after I finish a few more of the Tolkien books I haven't read it. I still have several, like Tales from the Perilous Realm. I started listening to The Fall of Gondolin a couple weeks ago and I got depressed at all the elf on elf slaughter. I will go back... perhaps when the Fall weather is glorious and nothing can upset me easily.

Still attempting to catch up on posting reviews. I've had this on my wish list for quite some time, so I want to thank those of you who gently prodded me to get to this recently.

>23 clamairy: I am glad you enjoyed Portable Magic :)

>24 Alexandra_book_life: I already had it on my wish list because someone must have recommended it a couple of years ago, but it got buried until you and Peter ganged up on me. 😄 So thank you.
