Distributed Proofreaders

Hi,

All of us enjoy the benefits of this wonderful Public Domain library. My question is if someone else volunteers as proofreader for PGDP.

I try to do it from time to time. For me is both an entertaining and worthy task, and I also feel that with my effort I'm returning something of what I'm receiving. So, what do you think?

I'm not familiar with PGDP. How's it work?

Sorry, for the bad link in the previous post.

As they say in the web page: Distributed Proofreaders provides a web-based method to ease the conversion of Public Domain books into e-books. You can choose to work in any of the books available going through its pages correcting any differences from the original scan. The books go through different rounds of proofreading and formatting before being ready to be available at Project Gutenberg.

They have quite an easy web interface. Of course there are a bunch of guidelines you must follow to correct the text but they are quiet easy and the other volunteers are really kind and helpful.

Hope you find it interesting!

Yes, I try to do some when I have some time. I'm now a level 2 proof reader.

For anyone interested - it is quite an interesting task, even where the book may not be of major interest to you. You do only as many pages as you want, so it isn't onerous. No proof reading experience is required, and clear guidance is given.

looking foward to having some time to proofread. I enjoy that sort of thing and have more time in the summer. Keep the group moving, please

*revive* Voila!
While I'm really streaky about doing it, I'm a member of the dpr., and it's important work that needs any help people are willing to provide (hence, my revive/bump) to a nearly three year old thread).
The link to check it out or join is here:

Thanks for the reminder, Brennus. I must find time to do some more work there.
