I was just wondering how everyone is planning to tag the books from the new edition. I've been using the 1001 tag for the books from the first edition, and I have some books that made it into the second edition. But I'd kind of like to differentiate between books that weren't included in the first edition and those that were. I just don't know how I want to do it yet.

So what do the rest of you plan to do? Tag them all the same? Ignore the new edition? Tag them differently?

I've just tagged the whole lot '1001 Books List'. I did toy with the idea of different tags but for the purposes of how I organise my reading, I decided it didn't justify it. I suppose it depends how you intend to approach reading them maybe? I'm just treating them as one long list of things that are worth a go!

I'll probably leave my old tags alone ('1001 books') and use '1001 books (2nd ed.)' only for the new additions. So far I haven't had to deal with any books that were on the first list and off the new one, though. Maybe they'd be '1001 books rejects'.

Currently the books from the first edition are tagged '1001'. I'll revise that to '1001-1' and then tag the second edition books, both new additions and the keepers from the first edition, as '1001-2'. It's similar to the Clifton J. Fadiman list of great books in that I've tagged for both the 3rd and 4th editions of his lists (I've never seen the 1st and 2nd).
