Syllables in Fort Myers, FL

We had an indie in Fort Myers complete with Victorian reading room; Sunday morning chess gatherings; Friday night poetry gatherings; we provided donuts for the Sunday morning newspaper crowd. One of the best times of my life. Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million did quick work of us and 5 other indies in town within a year.

oh I remember Ft Myers from a summer vacation -- maybe, 1982-ish (when I was 14). I wandered about investigating various bookstores.

when did Syllables exist? B&N, BAM, and other large chains have destroyed a lot of good bookstores.

i love the chess/donuts/paper sundays. it sounds divine.
