Thubten Jigme Norbu eldest brother of the Dalai Lama, died September 5 at the age of 86 by western reckoning and 87 by Tibetan reckoning. He was one of the first Tibetan leaders to seek asylum and assistance from the west after the Chinese takeover of his country.
