I just finished teaching a Food Group unit to my first graders. It took me over an hour at the library to come up with some fiction books about foods, so I thought I would share them here in case someone else could use the help. Please share any other food books you have!

I can't believe you don't have this one:
Stone Soup by...a bazillion different authors. It's a classic tale so it's been done a bunch of times.
That's the first that came to my head. There's also
Pancakes for Breakfast by Tomie Depaola
Though, this is a wordless book but it makes a great "you write the words" activity

You're very welcome! If you want to include dining etiquette with your food groups, Table Manners by Chris Raschka and Vladimir Radzunsky (sp?) is very funny and well loved at our house.
I also just found There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie by Lucille Colandro, a new version of the old song where the old lady eats a Thanksgiving dinner piece by piece -- it has turkey, bread, cider, salad, and of course, pie.
