Backup your catalog

I have been trying to figure out a way to back up our catalog. I tried copying and pasting into a Word Document, and downloading onto a thumb drive. That works, but so far I have only cataloged 10% of the collection.

Yesterday was my day to paste labels on books, and since LT was down, I had to use my backup document. I haven't seen any suggestions on LT or in the group posts. The catalog I am working on is used by a group of professionals, so backup data is necessary.

I am a professional librarian, but only about average when it comes to technical proficiency. I would also like a way to print out individual book records (catalog cards?). Is the need to backup a generational thing? I'm a retired public librarian.

You can download a copy of your catalog from the Tools page (export on the left).

You could print out individual records by copy/pasting the book details page into Word, I suppose, but that would definitely take time.

Here's an idea. There is a program called BookDB which I used before coming to LT. You can download it and then import your entire LT library into it. It has features where you can search or even print out a list of every book you have. The new version has a lot of other features I haven't played with. BookDB is totally free, so you can always play around with it and see if it does what you need. It's nowhere near as nice a library function as LT, but it's a back-up, and the option to print a condensed list of all your books is really nice for book sales and such.

Hope that helps.

Hi, is there anyone who can assist me? My catalog is having trouble numbering from downhill to upward.

Click on the sort column to turn it around.

Another time it would be better to start a new topic than to use a very old one with an unrelated subject.
