I am a big fan of his work, being a science/ science-fiction junkie. I thought Jurassic Park and The Lost World were soooooo much better than the movies. Also, I was petrified of flying for months after I read Airframe, which was bad becuase I fly a lot.

Oh dear, that's sad. Many of his recent books have been hit or miss for me, but I give him sole credit for my final grade in high school chemistry. I read The Lost World instead of studying and it turned out it was a great way revise.

(wingert, I read Airframe on a plane for some insane reason!)

Husband told me about that just a couple hours ago. He was one of very few "grown-up" (as in, not children's books) authors I read. He was brilliant.

My dad and I are both huge fans. I've read almost every one of his works...he was a brilliant, intriguing (sp) author.

There are often Crichton books at library book sales. On the first night of the one last weekend, there were quite a few. I've been picking them up for a couple years now and normally most of them are still there on half-price day two days later. So, as I typically do, I didn't get any the first night. At this sale, they were all gone on half-price day and I wondered if it was because of the news.
