Night Comes to the Cumberlands is a harrowing book about Eastern Kentucky. Several years ago there was a successful Broadway play the kentucky cycle along the same lines.

Someone told me about a neglected classic book about the horsey set around Lexington, but I haven't been able to figure out what they were talking about. Does it sound familiar to anybody?
