Forget the pointy-headed movie critics: what are the fans saying about the movie? Take a look at these two sites:

What did you think about the movie?

I really liked it. I didn't think the actors fit their characters that great, but towards the middle of the movie i loved all of them!

that's excellent! I have to wait until Dec 11th to see it. How would you rate it out of ten?

Did you know that the Twilight soundtrack is at position 1 on Billboard 200 Album charts? Whao?? Is that impressive or what .. btw, is "The River Flows in Your" by Yiruma Bella's lullaby? If it is then that's great, I think that song was very sweet and fits in well.

We went to see the movie with my friends on Thursday, a midnight release, and we enjoyed it a lot-- out of ten, I'd say probably a solid 9, maybe a bit higher if you can do partial stars too. It's different from the book, of course, and yes, the book will ALWAYS be better than any movie they try to make of it *Nothing against the actors, directors, and special effects people out there, but there is no way that they can bring the same vivid, deep emotions and characters, along with the actions and images, to the screen that we fell in love with in the books.* but I think that for such a low budget, and the fact that they were trying so hard to make it live up to the fans expectations, it was still a good movie, and I will definitely watch it again in theaters *maybe more than one if I get the time* and buy it the day it comes out on DVD.

There were a few parts where I was ready to throw something at the screen, because either the characters,or the story for that matter, were so off from the book, but in the end, it's still a great movie, and I think that for the most part, Twilight fans *and non-Twilight fans* should enjoy it a lot. I do wish they could have put more money into the special effects-- like how they sparkle? Really cheap and fake looking, made us all want to laugh even though Edward was showing off his yumy chest at the time. And their fast movements were very jerky *but I guess there is only so much that you can do when, well, vampires don't really exist, and the actors aren't supernatural, nor is the equipment* and almost annoying. Plus, Edward's voice was a bit annoying to me, not smooth and musical and compelling like it's suppose to be.

Out of ten I would rate it probably a 9.5. The only thing that I didn't like was how the director added some stuff, and took out some of the book. You're right the book will always be better than the movie!

That's great!! Yes, I read a review that said that the "supernatural" affects were pretty lame .. but as TBQ said, they were on a budget and everyone is only "human" .. lol .. humans playing vampires .. Yay! I just ordered the Twilight saga in hardback edition with that special case thingy, it was only $46.78 US!! I'm getting the Offical Guide next .. I'm not bothering with the soundtrack, I have Limewire!!
@Penguin711 && TBQ = the books are ALWAYS better .. even with manga and anime, the manga is better because you fell in love with the original and understandably, you would (and did) get pretty annoyed that they changed/took stuff out. As I said (somewhere), I watched the Harry Potter movies first and thought they were great .. but then I read the books and the books ruined the movies. The movies were TERRIBLE compared to the books.

I'm not sure about that movie. I didn't dislike the movie but at the same time it was so easy to look away from the movie. Even make fun of it a little with my sister who was watching it with me. I think the main problem was that while in the book just reading about the romance start is amazing, there's really not a whole lot you an watch about it.

It was great!!! I enjoyed it a lot. Of course, its not as good as the books. I thought they RUINED the meadow, though. But otherwise, it was good overall.

That's so sad, ninjawannab!!
Edwardcullenlver27, I sort of thought they ruined that, from all the trailers and stuff - oh, well, New Moon will be released in Dec '09, they are replacing Taylor Launter in New Moon with that guy from Sky High, the one who can produce flames from his hands.

who is that guy, anyway? i haven't seen Sky High, so i don't know.

ninja, I agree completely...you put it very nicely!

I didn't not like the movie although I kept asking myself "how could they cut that out", "what happened to (scene)", "she doesn't say that" etc. The fact that it wasn't abysmal meant that I "liked" it. It was no cinematic masterpiece but I didn't cringe too often.

This movie was the greatest film EVER!!!!!!!!!!!
Rob and Kristen were the perfect choice for Edward and Bella.
I could go on about the movie forever but I will spare you ;)
But I wish they put in the line about 'My mother's part albino' that was a highlight of the book for me! (I'm VERY pale for thoughs of you who don't know)
I am very pleased that Catherine Hardwick got replased as the director. I just don't like her and I don't know why ;)

I very much loved the m,ovie. It was sooooo much better than I thought. I went to the midnight showing it waqs awesome!!!

Jan 1, 2009, 12:08 am

Alicia = you make me laugh. The only thing I didn't like about Catherine is that (I think) she tried too hard to be "hip" and "cool" and that really put me off. But now that it's a dude being director, I suddenly seem to like her a lot more .. not that his capability as a director is diminished, it's just that this movie will have to be about a human girl losing the love of her life, I don't think a guy would really get it but hey, I might be totally wrong!
Yeah, I agree, I was a tiny bit apprehensive about the movie but it turned out pretty awesome. I enjoyed it alot and poor Alicia is probably deaf from my professions of love for Edward during the movie XD
I LOVED the baseball scene! /end of long, pointless message!
@ Alicia = I'm starting to get nervous about school!

do you think that the meadow was more mystical and.....pretty, in the book more than the movie?

17Joles
Feb 26, 2009, 11:37 am

I picture the meadow as larger and with higher yellowish grass in at least part of it. (Especially in the scene where we get reacquainted with Laurant; so we'll see if they make any changes from film 1 to film 2 in relation to the meadow.) I would almost think they'd have to. There definitely isn't enough room for Bella, Laurant and a bunch of huge wolves there!

18kara1560
Feb 26, 2009, 11:47 am

oh yeah, I wonder what it will look like??? Hmmmm???

19Hermee
Feb 27, 2009, 2:55 am

Did you know they shot that scene in a park in L.A. after returning from Forks? Loses it's appeal somehow knowing it's a park. I imagined the meadow to have longer grass as well, but for there to be flatter grass in the middle where they lay with higher grass on the outskirts, which doesn't make sense in the wild. The different lengths in my head made it seem more like a hidden niche for you to stumble upon unaware, making it more of a private haven known just to them. Adds more to the romance of it.

20kara1560
Feb 27, 2009, 3:52 pm

L.A.?!?!?!!? Gosh!

21Joles
Feb 27, 2009, 5:30 pm

Yeah, Hermee, I'm with you on the grass. It sounds like we've got the same picture in our heads.

22Hermee
Feb 27, 2009, 8:42 pm

The weird thing though is I don't know if it could ever grow that way. Not unless it had intentionally been flattened like a crop circle, or was regularly visited by others who flattened it over time. In that way, it seems that much more magical in my head and since Edward's a vampire, anything's possible, right?

23kara1560
Feb 27, 2009, 11:54 pm

the grass was also very sparse.

24Hermee
Feb 28, 2009, 12:41 am

Looked like it had been mowed really, which you wouldn't find in a meadow in the wild though I've no doubt that Edward, with his super strength, could have carted one out there. It would need to be battery powered though.

25kara1560
Feb 28, 2009, 12:52 am

I bet they mowed it so it wouldn't get in there faces while they laid down together. Joking, but in the book doesn't Bella say something like the long grass swayed in the light breeze?

26Hermee
Feb 28, 2009, 12:55 am

Wow. You have some memory. *Shocked expression.* Don't think I could remember quite that detail. It's an excellent test on the TwiNut scale though. Just how much of a TwiNut are you all (to anyone reading this) and no cheating by looking it up? ;)

I loved the movie! Oh and Taylor Lautner isn't being replace, he's going to be playing Jacob Black in ::ew Moon" which is being released on November 21, 2009. I think that the movie could have been a bit longer but overall it was an amazing movie, I can't wait to get it on the 21st of March!

what? the meadow isnt in LA

34alice_cullens
Mar 11, 2009, 9:05 pm

I loved the meadow scene and agree that the picture in my head was waay different from what was done on the big screen. I will admit that it was still amazing and romantic. But I pictures different levels of grass in yellow and green tones, and fireflies floating around(of course that's my imagination ladies and gents). Wow, it was done in LA? Oh and kara1560, you are quite right about the grass "swaying in the light breeze." I didn't even look that up. I've read "Twilight 18 or more times since I've had it and finished it the first time in 24 hours. But anyways, the scene was still amazing.

35kara1560
Mar 11, 2009, 11:03 pm

yeah, it was my (one of) favorite scenes. but still they should have made the grass longer. oh well, it was still a great scene. :D

Mar 13, 2009, 4:17 am

I think it was a really good scene but was it just me or did Rob look really awkward when he was laying on the grass? He looked like a dropped puppet. My friend cracked up about it. I was like, "SHOOOOSH!" LOL :)

I thought he sounded a bit retarded when he says "hello" to Bella in Biology. He sounds like he has just learnt to talk.

39G.A.B.E
Mar 16, 2009, 2:39 am

^ Meanie!!! I love it when he said, "It was an adrenaline rush, you can google it." He said "google" like gooooogalll. It was HILARIOUS :D

40Hermee
Mar 16, 2009, 3:00 am

38: I loved it when Edward said "hello" to Bella. He sounded apprehensive to me, as if he was testing the waters, not sure of how she would respond to his sudden turnaround in behavior. Bella was totally unaware after all of his immense struggle to resist feeding on her (and attacking the others as well since they would all be witness to it) due to her intoxicating smell, and felt confused and hurt by his previous behavior.

41G.A.B.E
Mar 16, 2009, 3:12 am

I love it :)
"Hello, I didn't get a chance to introduce myself last week. I'm Edward Cullen."
*melting into a dazzled puddle of dazzledness* :P

42Hermee
Mar 16, 2009, 3:57 am

He was EXTREMELY dazzling in that scene. I had to internally shake myself to remind me that I shouldn't be dazzled by a 22-year-old. Even though it was required of the role, it made me feel weird to be dazzled by someone so young. From what I've read in forum postings by Twilight adult females of 30 on up, many have felt the same way as well. Then again, I reasoned with myself that he was, in fact, 108, which would make him what? My great grandfather? Yikes.

That shows great acting ability when you can dazzle like that when the role requires it. Funnily enough, in a video interview I watched on YouTube (and I've no idea which one it was), he said he had to get coaching from Catherine Hardwicke on that scene because he was struggling with the dazzling part yet he's such a natural at it in that scene.

Actually, I feel maternal towards him sometimes. When you're an adult and watch an actor grow up in movies, it can make you feel that way. I feel that way about a few child actors who have grown up in movies.

38> No one beat me up, (PLEASE!), but I agree with Casey, he did sound a bit retarded saying "Hello" in biology. *brings out shield to protect self* (just in case)

39> Lolz, it did sound like "gooooogalll" (I cut and pasted to make sure I got the right amount of Os, lol). Ahh, but it sounded like the perfect mixture of the English accent and his not so great atempt of hiding it... ahhh...

41> the part of that sentence I LOVED was when he said his own name. ahh.. so flowing and....( forgive me for my loss of words. I'm trying to describe an angel's voice for crying out loud! i have used the words: wonderful, beutiful (sp?), gorgeous, dazzling, and many more in WAY too many other posts. It doesn't feel right typing them over and over and over again. :)

I hate when I come in late on a subject. :(

44Hermee
Mar 16, 2009, 7:45 pm

Well, Kara, I'd say you redeemed yourself in the 41 paragraph. It's just as well too coz I had the worst kind of punishment planned until I got to that part ... sticking you in a soundproof room, turning on the speakers real loud and ... are you ready for this? Blasting out country music for four hours. See now why it had to be soundproof? Imagine tunes with that country twang like Achy Breaky Heart for four ... very ... long ... hours. *Runs from the thread screaming at the thought.*

45G.A.B.E
Mar 17, 2009, 4:18 am

43: LOL :) Yeah, my friend always imitates that part and gets me to crack up :) See, we aren't that bad TwiHards. We can make fun of Twilight :)
44: EW. I. HATE. COUNTRY. MUSIC. MORE. THAN. ANYTHING. YUCK. ICK. EW. :D

46kara1560

44> Aaaa!!! I HATE Achy Breaky Heart!!! ugh that's the WORST song ever writtin(sp?)!!!! ( as I said in my other post, I just woke up, so forgive my grammer/spelling) Phew, I'm SOO glad I put that last paragraph in there!!!

One question: paragraph 39, that WAS a compliment (sp?), did it sound otherwise?.....

47Hermee
Mar 17, 2009, 2:43 pm

Well you can probably tell from my profile that I'm a huge Adam Lambert fan. He's gonna win American Idol hands down coz no one comes close to his talent. It's on tonight and I can't wait to see what he comes up with. He has a knack for molding any song to his own style to make you go "Wow!" Tonight's grand ole opry (country) music night, which makes me cringe (Simon too), but because Adam's singing, I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to see what he sings. This from someone who hates country. I just have a feeling he might turn it into a rock song to make it worth listening to (I love rock) coz that fits his style. You feel, like Paula said, that you're at a rock concert when he's on stage.

A producer spilled the beans on the songs they have to choose from and the best one I can imagine him singing is Celebrity by Brad Paisley coz it's funny, which would match his upbeat personality. Either that or What Was I Thinking by Dierks Bentley, or possibly Feel That Fire, also by Dierks. In case anyone else is a fan, below are the lyrics to the songs I mentioned.

---------------------------------------------------

CELEBRITY - Brad Paisley

Someday I'm gonna be famous,
Do I have talent, well, no.
These days you don't really need it,
Thanks to reality shows

Can't Wait to date a supermodel,
Can't Wait to sue my dad.
Can't wait to wreck a Ferrari
On my way to rehab....

Chorus-
Cause when you're a Celebrity
It's adios reality
You' can act just like a fool
People think you're cool
Just cause your on TV.
I can throw major fits
When my latte isn't just how I like it
They say I've gone insane,
I'll blame it on the fame,
And the pressures that it goes with
Being a Celebrity
uh huh

I get to cry to Barbara Walters,
When Things don't go my way.
I'll get community service
No matter which law I break

I'll make the supermarket tabloids,
They'll write some awful stuff
But the more they run my name down,
The more my price goes up!

Chorus-
Cause when you're a Celebrity,
It's adios reality.
No matter what you do,
People think you're cool,
Just cause you're on TV.
I can fall in and out of love,
Have marriages that barely last a month.
When they go down the drain
I'll blame it on fame
And say it's just so tough.
Being a Celebrity

So let's hitch up the wagons and head out west
To the land of fun in the sun
We'll be real world bachelors
Jackass Millionaires
Hey, Hey, Hollywood
Here we come!

Chorus-
Yeah, When you're a Celebrity
It's adios reality
No matter what you do,
People think you're cool,
Just cause you're on t.v.
...Being a Celebrity
...Yeah Celebrity!
...uh-huh
"Where's my coffee?"

WHAT WAS I THINKIN' - Dierks Bentley

Becky was a beauty from south alabama
her daddy had a heart like a nine pound hammer
think he even did a little time in the slammer
what was i thinkin?
she snuck out one night met me by the front gate
her daddy came out wavin that 12 gage
tore out the drive and peppered my tail gate
what was i thinkin?
oh i knew there'd be hell to pay
but that crossed my mind a little to late

cause i was thinkin bout a little white tank top sittin right there in the middle by me,
i was thinkin bout a long kiss man just gotta get goin where the night might lead
i know what i was feelin
but what was i thinkin?
what was i thinkin'?

by the county line the cops are nippin on our heels
pulled of the road kicked it in 4 wheel
shut off the lights and tore through a corn field
what was i thinkin?
out the other side she was hollerin fast
took the dirt road had the radio blastin
hit hokney tonk for a little close dancin
what was i thinkin?
oh i knew there'd be hell to pay
but that crossed my mind a little too late

cause i was thinkin bout a little white tank top sittin right there in the middle by me,
i was thinkin bout a long kiss man just gotta get goin where the night might lead
i know what i was feelin but what was i thinkin?

when the mountain of a man with a born to kill tattoo
tried to cut in i knocked out his front tooth
we ran out side hood slidin like beau duke
what was i thinkin?
i finally got her home at a half past two
and here daddy in a lawn chair sittin on the driveway
put it in park as he started my way
what was i thinkin?
oh what was i thinkin?
oh what was i thinkin?
as you gave a come and get me grin
and like a bullet we were gone again

cause i was thinkin bout a little white tank top sittin right there in the middle by me,
i was thinkin bout a long kiss man just gotta get goin where the night might lead
i know what i was feelin yeah i know what i was feelin but what was i thinkin? what was i thinkin?

i know what i was feelin.
what was i thinkin
guess i was thinkin bout that tank top
and those cut offs

FEEL THAT FIRE - Dierks Bentley

She wants her nails painted black.
She wants the toy in the cracker jack.
She wants to ride the bull at the rodeo.
She wants to wear my shirt to bed.
She wants to make every stray a pet, and drive around in my truck with no place to go.

(Chorus)
But she needs to feel that fire.
The one that lets her know for sure
She's everything I want and more.
Her real desire.
And to know I'd walk alone out on the wire... to make her feel that fire.

She wants a cabin in the woods.
She wants to stand where nobody stood.
Someday she wants a couple kids of her own.
She wants to make love on a train.
Someday she only wants a break
Hey, she wants what she wants and man I know, I know, I know
She needs to feel that fire.
The one that lets her know for sure
She's everything I want and more.
Her real desire.
And to know I'd walk alone out on the wire... to make her feel that fire.
Yeah-ah, feel that fire.

So, as long as there's a breath to take,
A smile to share,
A prayer to pray,
A chance to hold her hand to fan the flame,
She's gonna feel that fire.
The one that lets her know for sure
She's everything I want and more.
Her real desire.
And to know I'd walk alone out on the wire, yeah to make her feel that fire.
Woah-oh, feel that fire

She wants her nails painted black.
She wants the toy in the cracker jack.
She wants to ride the bull at the rodeo.

---------------------------------------------------

All the others are either twangy, soppy (you need a box of Kleenex handy for a lot of country songs coz they're so darn depressing), or just plain irritating. My fave (said sarcastically) are those with that twangy sound (what instrument is that coz it should be banned?) with banjo or fiddle playing thrown in. Excuse me while I barf.

Did you like when he did The Ring Of Fire? ( as I said in my other post : the ONLY country song I like) ( I wouldn't mind if you locked me in a room with that song playing) ;) (until about five repeats). But getting back to the point, I sort-of liked his take on The ring Of Fire.

46: I don't understand what you meant by the question about paragraph 39? If you mean post 39, that's my post and I didn't compliment or insult anyone. I was talking about Rob saying "goooogallll." Oh and I called Casey a meanie but she's my friend in real life and she knows I love her!

50: I'm sure you know but it's b/c he has an English accent but has to talk with an American one .. :)

Hey, does anyone else think that's it's weird that Edward uses "love" as a term of endearment for Bella in Eclipse and Breaking Dawn when it's an English/Australian word? My dad calls me love. I just will find it weird when Rob says it in an Amercian accent b/c I'm so used of English/Australian people saying it everyday.

I liked the movie a lot; I am new to the boards and wanted to post here as well. They did put my favorite line into the movie which was great:

When Edward says “And you’re worried, not because you’re headed to meet a houseful of vampires, but because you think those vampires won’t approve of you, correct?’

I love this because it’s so “Me.”

Bella is clumsy like me, pale like me and a whole list of other things like me it’s scary.

Yes there are some things that could have been done better, but other things that were great. I am upset it got a PG-13 rating it prevented many kids from being able to see it “solely based on parent’s perception” on PG-13. They could have gone all out on the Violence of the Abduction scene but they did that even very tasteful. And I like the fact it had minimal contact. Just like the books. I mean because it was human/vampire it got that rating it’s sad that such a clean cut movie got that rating. Some parents can be very closed minded.

Good Movie, Good Books for young readers, not a lot of sex and violence, and just truly a good love story.

68: WHAT?! Is it fake tan? It better be fake tan or I will go to Ohio and kick your butt! Solariums are SOOOOO bad for your skin! This Asian girl went to one for her wedding and she got terminal skin cancer; it was so sad, she was so kind and she studied hard and she was so beautiful.

69: I'm olive-skinned and you're not as tanned as me. I'd call you pale gold (like Jace, so be grateful!) :D

And I'm not clumsy either! I haven't met a clumsy person, I think. But I do have Bella's hair and eyes (wavy dark brown with red highlights and brown eyes).

I'm a brownie! My skin's brown, so's my hair, so's my eyes! BROWNIE POWER :D

My eyes are BRIGHT blue with a streak chocolate brown in my right eye.

My hair is dark brown in the winter, light brown in the Spring and Fall, and strawberry blonde in the Summer. Lolz, I'm a camealeon(sp?)!!

I'm so pale that I never get tan and my friend I knew since Pre-school thought I was albino (she still has doubts about that) ;)

Oh, and nobody can tell if I'm happy, sad, confused etc. I'm a TRUE closed book. Lolz

That was a mouth-full!

73: My hair used to be blond when I was a kid but it's gotten darker and darker as I've gotten older. But the weird thing is, it was jet-black when I was born. LOL :) I have weird hair.
My friend, Leah, has eyes that change colour. From pale blue, to dark green, to a mix of both.

Your hair colour is pretty. Give it to me! :)
Maybe you lost some pigments for a while or maybe it's just the mix of your parent's DNA?
