"Quantum of Solace" has got me itching to read some more Bond. I loved Fleming, enjoyed Amis, didn't like Gardner, and was ambivalent on Benson.
How will I like the new guy? Any opinions?

i thought the new one was pretty good.
unlike you, i like gardner - but think benson was kind of off the mark.
that said, i still liked theirs.
faulks is writing AS fleming, so that makes a pretty big difference for me.
it is set in the late 60's, too - which helps.
there is a bit of a silliness to it - a deformed bad guy and other stuff, but i thought it was a very well done homage to the fleming books. i pre-ordered mine new from amazon and have no regrets.
definitely worth it if you can find it used.
