TIntin

I found this article on our French hero Tintin, who began his published book life in 1929, although his comic strip life began in 1928. The article mainly deals with a period later than ours, but I thought it might be of interest to Tintin buffs.

I did Paola. You are so sweet. I will write more later. I should be getting ready to go to a reading group, but I was trying to distract myself from the holiday/post-holiday blues by checking out LT before I left.

Urania -- thanks for the Economist article on TinTin -- I was vaguely aware of the character, though I've never read any of the books. How curious that Spielberg wants to make a film of it.

Thanks for the link, urania1 - I love Tintin! When I lived in Jakarta in grade six, the highlight of my week was taking a becak to Kemchicks to buy Dröste chocolate and a new Tintin. It was sad when I had read them all :(

On the upside, I somehow overlooked Tintin in the Land of the Soviets and still have that one to look forward to. It was published in a Belgian newspaper supplement 1929-30, so it makes a good one for this group...

I haven't listed it yet, but I have an absolutely HUGE Compedium on TinTin. I think its circa 1960-1970. It's in storage, but I can pull it if anyone is interested.

Tintin’s 80th Birthday is on January 10th. What are you doing to celebrate?

Tintin was gay!!!!!!!! Of course it makes perfect sense to me now.

I will be celebrating his birthday with naked dancing. Anyone want to join me?

It's a bit cold for naked dancing where I live. I usually wait until spring at least.

#12: Loved the comment from one Sylvia, at the end of the article, who said that Tintin was just French.

Gosh, haven't read a Tintin since I was a kid living in Montreal.

Hah, Yes!! I chuckled at that too!

So, was anyone else out there dancing, or did membership shrivel because of the cold?

I just found out a friend is working on the motion capture for Tintin so it will look more like the Polar Express movies. It is odd because the spare line drawings seems so distinctive to the look of Tintin.
