I'm interested in reading about Africa in February because I think it's the continent about which I know the least. Hopefully, I'll know much more about Africa after the read, albeit our books are fiction. It seems that by reading fiction, I'm always looking things up to understand them even more. I hope that will also be the case this coming month.
Here's a fun quiz to get you started. See if you know the answers. If you don't, you may either look them up on wikipedia or wait until the last week of February at which time I'll post the answers.
So grab a piece of paper and jot down what you think are the correct answers to these questions ...
Please do NOT answer these questions on this thread at this time! Beginning the last week of February, you may discuss how you did on this quiz and what you learned during the Febrary Africa theme month. You may talk about these questions as well as what you learned from your reads and the reads of others. Enjoy!
1. How many countries are there in Africa?
2. What is the fasting-growing religion in Africa?
3. Which is the largest country in Africa?
4. Which is Africa's smallest country?
5. What country in Africa reaches farthest south?
6. Which African country reaches farthest west?
7. What African country reaches farthest north?
8. What city in Africa has the largest population?
9. Which African country has the highest population?
10. What country in Africa will host the 2010 World Cup?
Think you have most of the answers correct? We'll see in a few weeks. :)
Enjoy your African read!

>2 Annix:, The geography quiz was fun! I did the best on non-Sub-Saharan countries and the far south of Africa. Things around the equator were quite a mess for me, especially the very small countries.
