Just found a reference in Magnitude 8 to the Google Group sci.geo.earthquakes. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you have a special interest in quakes.

California people, Pacific rim friends and other earthquake prone folk, please don't laugh at us Eastern Americans. It just never happens here, until it happened yesterday. Since I work at an airport I thought it was a crash. Forgive us for being overly freaked-out.
