A wonderful book I have used every time I visist the SW USA, and refer to regularly at home, is A Natural History of the Sonoran Desert. It is really a 600+ page natural encyclopedia and will be useful to any visitor to the Sonoran Desert. I was given it by a docent at the superb Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum on my first trip there in 2000.
