Here's the latest I've seen. It starts out mimicking the cafeteria scene, then breaks into a song and dance number that's pretty funny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OPJUQWqYaw

My absolute faves are these as both had me howling with laughter ...

Puppet saga: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1u718MmV0dg
The Twilight Before Christmas: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUba0WtH-SY

I'm loading the puppet one now :) I'm adding the link to one, it was quite funny but it has "swearing". You'll understand the speech marks if/when you watch it :)

The puppet one had such detail! I mean, the puppets looked alot like them and James even had the same sort of jacket and when James and Edward slide across the flooring, there has boards erupting around them. And Bella even was wearing the same cardie in the prom scene. It was really good and funny :)

That was very funny though the language was pretty bad in parts. (You can tell what's been x'd out and not all was x'd out.) There were some very clever lines in it though and it ended on a really funny note (with the substituted lines that is since the real event was horrifyingly barbaric).

I liked The Twilight Before Christmas

Message 4: I thought it was really clever, how they got a German clip and made new subtitles to match Hitler's disgust of Breaking Dawn :)

7Hermee
Feb 14, 2009, 11:04 pm

Yes and they matched the lines with the expressions perfectly. Had to scroll back a few times where they squished too many words in, but the script's pretty good, isn't it?

8G.A.B.E
Feb 16, 2009, 2:28 am

Yup :) I liked it when they showed the scared people outside and a lady is crying and another one goes, "I know. Spoilers suck a$$." I couldn't stop laughing :)

I guess this is where my serious part comes in then. Haven't watched that movie, but have seen a lot of documentaries on the Holocaust, some of which had me tears due to the explicit nature of them so although I don't speak German, I wondered about what barbaric acts Hitler was probably ordering the others to commit since he starved and exterminated people in the masses just because they were Jewish.

10G.A.B.E
Feb 16, 2009, 2:55 am

Yep. It's disgusting. I know some pretty gruesome facts about it like .. he killed the Jews and made soap with their fat, he made lampshades with their skin and if they had e.g. a fake leg or glasses, he took them off the Jews and burned them. It's absolutely horrific.

11Hermee
Feb 16, 2009, 3:57 am

Erm ... I didn't know that. Did you learn it from a book? If so, which one?

12bombardalicious2
Feb 16, 2009, 6:23 pm

I heard Hitler actually had some Jewish in him.

13MrsGrinch

Yeah I think his dad was Jewish.

Message 11: We were talking about it in English. Hitler was a horrible person. And I saw the thing about taking the glasses, fake legs etc. on a documentary, it was an actual video recording from that time. You saw the soldiers throwing them into a HUGE pile. :(

16Hermee
Feb 18, 2009, 4:22 am

Yes, he was a monster. What a waste ... Hitler (to society) and the loss of all those poor people. He couldn't even let them have the bare necessities. :(

I read Once and the sequel to it by Morris Gleitzman and it was about the Holocaust. It was so sad I cried. Imagine the fear and the desperation of the people living in that time. :'(

Do you (or anyone else reading this) know of any other books about the Holocaust that are suitable for children, Casey? If so, would you please add a comment with the title and author's name on my page? It's for a child buddy. Thank you.

Hitler was Austrian if i remember from a doco

22Hermee
Feb 19, 2009, 1:05 am

He was both Austrian and German. He was born in Austria, making him an Austrian national, but was granted German citizenship in 1913, thereby making him German as well.

If you'd like to read more about the Holocaust, Kara, I made a tag for my buddy, Elliemae, and added her fave types, which include stories about the Holocaust, as well as mysteries and ghost stories as well. If you look in the Comments column, I've added notes about authors who are survivors of concentration camps as well.

Not all of those about the Holocaust are for children though so it's best to read the description first to see if it sounds like a book you'd like to read. Considering the subject manner, they could be very violent and have bad language. If I've read the book and it contains bad language, I've stated that it has bad language in the Comments column. If it says "must read" in the Tags column, then you'll know I haven't read it yet so those books possibly contain bad language as well.

Here's the tag: http://www.librarything.com/catalog/Hermee&tag=recommended%2Bfor%2BElliemae

Aw. :( Is Milkweed a true story, Kara? Am always on the lookout for books about the Holocaust for my buddy, Elliemae, as she's very interested in reading different books about it so if you know of others, please let me know so I can add them to a tag I created for her. You can see what I have already here: http://www.librarything.com/catalog/Hermee&tag=recommended%2Bfor%2BElliemae

Apr 4, 2009, 1:25 am

oh my gosh! your such a brainy pants!! i still have absolutely no idea what the origins of my name are.. seriously my last name is like the most common last name in Germany EVER! there are probably like 100,000,000,000,000 people out there with the same last name as me but we aren't related!! GGRRR i don't even know how i'm supposed to make it a recount.. i wasn't even there! and besides my nan and pop have no idea what to tell me because it was during the war so everything got bombed! and thats pretty much the end of the story! (seriously their towns got bombed and they moved to Australia, thats it!) GOSH! i think i'm gonna fail.

ps: did you realise that the assignment is due on the last day of school?! fun fun fun ! :)

57kara1560
Apr 4, 2009, 3:45 pm

51> Lol, the safest place to practice that move is at home. I was going to try to do that too, but I was in a HUGE field with a TON of people so I decided it was not the greatest idea. lol

58G.A.B.E
Apr 4, 2009, 9:27 pm

56: What I did was typed in Surname (or Family name) origins. And then you find a good sight and type in your last name and then it says something like; Blah, Old Latin, means; young tree from etc.. I discovered that my great-grandmother was Spanish! Wow! I am part Spanish! And one of the last names in my family is Old French so that means that somewhere along the line there is French ancestry! This recount is actually pretty interesting! :)

59All.Time.Lunatic.xX
Apr 4, 2009, 10:03 pm

hmm see i would but i don't want to like completely finish it and then have the teacher tell us we have to do both sides of the family *gasp* my mums family is too big and confusing, my dad told me that my great great great great great... ect grandfather came over here on like the first fleet (yes thats right 1836 or whatever it was) GGGRRRR it's all too hard! :(

60G.A.B.E
Apr 4, 2009, 11:53 pm

^ The first fleet was 200 years ago or something. Cos my great-great grandparents came to Australia in 1885 (around about) and they weren't on the first fleet. And yeah, I'm doing both sides :)
