I would like to hear any and all theories that people have out there about where they think they really are, what the Dharma Initiative meant to accomplish by having a Time Travelling Island, how Chuck Widmore first located the Island to begin with, how a puff of black smokr can make the loud bellowing primal sound it does and also how can it make the Island tremble whenever you hear the sound just before the black smoke appears, each and every week on LOST it seems we find more questions than answers and it just curiouser and curiouser all the time.
No theory is too wild, bizarre or out there to try and figure out why things happen like they do. There has to be some specific, logical reasons for all of these weird, odd, occurrences that happens on the Island. I guess that Ben and all of the "Others" originally came to the Island because it had something to do with Charles Widmore. How did the wll magically close on Locke last week? Originally one of my theories was that there was some kind of a Monster or some kind of Dinosaur on the Island that had originally killed the Pilot and put him up atop the tree and was the cause of the Island trembling like it does from time to time. But now I m not so sure, maybe the black smoke had something to do with the Pilot's death. Why did Charlie have to die in Season 4 when the guy with the patch over one eye had the hand grenade just before he pulled the pin? I mean if I'm Charlie and I see this dude with a hand grenade he cetainly had the time to get out of the room before he pulled the pin and it exploded causing all the water to rush in and drown poor Charlie.
I know Desmond had kept predicting that Charlie was going to die sooner or later but he had saved Charlie's life on a couple of different occasions. It seems to me that Charlie really died for nothing. Plus there are even more questions
out there about what and where the Island is located. I know they are all experiencing Flash backs by seeing things that have already occured in the past.

Personally I feel Charlie was a Fool to let himself be blown up by the guy with the patch over one eye. He had enough time to escape out the door before pulled the pin on the grenade.
Instead he just stays there and stares at him right up until he pulls the pin on the hand grenade. I can not imagine anyone being so stupid like that. I know LOST is just a TV Show but I like to get involved and caught up with my favorite TV Shows and Movies and feel like I am right there with them.
It makes it much more exciting this way. Anyway, all I'm trying to say is that Charlie could've ecaped if he wanted to instead of just deciding to be blown up. and I think he that should've escaped while he had an opportunity. He should've thought about what was going to happen to Claire and Aaron the baby if he lets himself get killed instead of thinking he would survive for them because he loves them and they need him alive back on the Island. I don't think his death really meant anything in the long run other than it might've redeemed himself for all the Drugs he had taken over the years and had been addicted to for so long. But that's quitting the Drug habit the hard way. Locke even helped him kick the habit in the beginning.
I think most people's will to survive would've kicked in and gotten out while they still had the chance at the time. When Charlie just decided to stay and look back at the guy with the patch over one eye and not even attempt to escape I knew he was a Fool for making that decision. MrsHouseLibrary is somewhat obsessed with Lost as well. The thing about Charlie's character is that Desmond ~told~ him that he HAD to die in order for Claire and Aaron to escape from the island. Remember, Desmond was doing that time-tripping thing, and saw the other scenarios where Charlie was supposed to die. My guess is that he saw no positive consequence from Charlie's death until the drowning scenario.
Besides, Charlie had to go on to his next gig -- playing a tattooed rock star on Chuck. Talk about being type-cast!!!

In the end it does seem that Charlie actually died for nothing since they all have to return to the Island. And Locke is going to have to die in order for this to be accomplished. So Charlie died so that Claire and Aaron can get off the Island and then have to come back again? I still don't like or even trust Ben however it seems the Island needs to have Ben too.
Otherwise I would say let Locke, Sawyer, Jack or Sayid waste him so he can't play his little mind games with everyone

Keep in mind that Desmond ~doesn't~ know or care about what the island wants. He found a scenario for possible rescue and took it, at Charlie's expense. I suspect that Charlie might actually come back, unless the place where he died was not ~part~ of the island.

I can't help but think that Charlie's song We Are Everybody is important, but why I don't know.

You could be right about that. I never thought of that before you mentioned it. Maybe the song has to do with everyone is part of something a lot bigger than themselves and as a community they need to work together and rely on one another in order to survive. They have to take the good with the bad. I still say Charlie had enough time to escape through the door before the grenade went off and flooded the room with water and drowned. If that had been me I would've headed straight for the door not just standing there like an idiot waiting for the grenade to explode and cause water to rush in and drown me. It's Charlie's own fault that he was killed when he could've survived and gone back to Clare and the baby back on the island. Maybe he felt he needed to redeem himself in some way and that by giving up his life the slate would be wiped clean in his favor. I know that Desmond kept having visions of Charlie dieing and had in fact saved Charlie's life on a couple of different occasions. And in the beginning Charlie almost died when he had been hung from a tree and he would've died then and there if Jack hadn't been able to bring him back from the brink of death.
