Hi everybody!! I was in one of my random thought times and i was thinking...

Are Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse married??

2kirbyowns
Feb 27, 2009, 12:45 pm

According to Walt, Mickey and Minnie were never married on screen. However, he later said in their private life they are married. Two years later, Walt said that "there is no marriage in the land of make believe". Later the same year "The Wedding of Mister Mickey Mouse" was published with Mickey walking Minnie down the aisle. Although this was not a Disney publication, Walt Disney gave permission for the publication.

wow Kirby, that was very informative...it's like you're a teacher or something

*snicker* I know a little about Mickey Mouse, and I know how to do some research.....oh yeah. Plus I am a teacher.

5jugglingpaynes
Feb 27, 2009, 4:33 pm

So does this mean all these years Mickey and Minnie were just...living together? :o)

Are they waiting until it's legal for all animals?

sinners!

7MissTessaWeasley
Feb 27, 2009, 5:18 pm

I knew they weren't married, but I feel so much more informed now. Thanks, kirby.

#5: hahaha jp!

8MissTessaWeasley
Feb 27, 2009, 5:19 pm

So I'm guessing that Donald and Daisy aren't married either?

9rissa
Feb 27, 2009, 5:20 pm

Mickey and Minnie have separate houses, they have not been living together.

10rissa
Feb 27, 2009, 5:22 pm

Donald and Daisy aren't married either, and also have separate houses.

11Espeon200
Feb 27, 2009, 5:23 pm

#5 -- I can't remember ever seeing a cartoon where Mickey was living with Minnie. They go on dates a lot...

12MissTessaWeasley
Feb 27, 2009, 5:35 pm

Yeah I always remember Mickey going to pick Minnie up at her house or calling her at home and stuff like that.

13Tigercrane
Feb 27, 2009, 5:50 pm

Just how old are they supposed to be, anyway? They play in a clubhouse, after all.

That sounds kind of suggestive actually, now that I reread it.

14jugglingpaynes
Feb 27, 2009, 6:28 pm

Yes. Those of you who said Mickey and Minnie, Donald and Daisy, or any other of the other boyfriend/girlfriend couples had separate houses, it's true. No one lived together.

Except Chip and Dale.

15MsDonna
Feb 27, 2009, 6:59 pm

Micky and Minnie are mostly married. Donald and Daisy are definitely divorced.

17jugglingpaynes
Feb 27, 2009, 8:16 pm

Now let's analyze why all the cats were evil unless they were kittens and why Goofy could talk and Pluto couldn't.

And then we can talk about the WB characters, who seemed to have much more fun. I always preferred Bugs Bunny over Mickey. :o)

18pollysmith
Feb 27, 2009, 8:27 pm

Mickey and Minnie have an "understanding"!

19Mysterion
Feb 27, 2009, 8:36 pm

Can we talk about why cartoon characters wear shirts, ties and hats but no pants?

I prefer Daffy.

20pollysmith

I have always thought that was funny too. no pants!

21puppetmaster101

Hey, i was just in a resturant with the old Micky videos and Minnie gave Micky a big ol' wet one! it was a REALLY old video, but it still counts!! Kirby gave a good discpertion on that they are! Thanks Kirby! :)

22jugglingpaynes
Feb 27, 2009, 9:02 pm

They have no pants, and Chip and Dale have no tails. Why did they take their tails?

Kids today. Tattoos, piercings, tail docking. Crazy.

#17 & 19 I actually prefer Disney. I'm in love with it! And always have been. That might be cause I have an aunt who works at Disneyland but I don't know... ;)

So which Disney character do most people identify with? For me it as to be Goofy, but I'm not saying why.

Tigger, with an inner Eeyore, which helps keep me grounded. :o)

28MrsGrinch
Edited: Feb 27, 2009, 10:17 pm

I am not sure wich one I identify with the most.....hmmm.....maybe Lilo form Lilo and Stich. Yeah I identify with Lilo the most.

Back to the no pants thing. Like Chndler said on friends: "Donald Duck never wore pants, but whenever he came out of the shower he always wrapped a towel around his waist. What is that about?"

This month has been a record posting month for me. I'd like to thank cat for leaving me for ten days and making this all possible. What's amazing is that I haven't even slacked off on my blog! 51MrAndrew

This is what we call Li-los here. That Disney show stole the name:

54MrsGrinch
Feb 28, 2009, 7:07 pm

Isn't that a pool toy?

55MrAndrew
Feb 28, 2009, 7:23 pm

yup.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_mattress
The term air mattress may also refer to a certain inflatable swimming pool or beach toy, which has an air-sac "pillow" and several (usually four or five) tubes running its length. Also called a "lilo" (UK), "pool air mat", "air mat", "pool lounge", or "float(ing) mat(tress)", it is used to recline on the water surface. Although it bears some resemblance to an air mattress, it is typically not built as strongly and may not reliably stay inflated all night long, making it impractical for use as a bed.

It's weird because as much as I love Disney movies, I always liked the Looney Tunes TV shows better even though we watched the Disney Channel a lot.

And Chip and Dale were siblings weren't they? Who else remembers their cartoon with the way-too-likely-to-get-stuck-in-your-head theme song:

Ch-Ch-Ch-Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers!

69biblioholic29

Dashing and daring
Courageous and caring
Faithful and friendly
With stories to share
All through the forest
They sing out in chorus
Marching along
As their song fills the air

Gummi Bears
Bouncing here and there and everywhere
High adventure that’s beyond compare
They are the Gummi Bears
Magic and mystery
Are part of their history
Along with the secret
Of gummiberry juice
Their legend is growing
They take pride in knowing
They’ll fight for what’s right
In whatever they do

Gummi Bears
Bouncing here and there and everywhere
High adventure that’s beyond compare
They are the Gummi Bears
They are the Gummi Bears!

96Espeon200
Mar 13, 2009, 10:58 pm

The great thing about all those old shows is that you can still find most of them places. Some less legal than others. I loved Tailspin so much when I was younger, and I still watch it whenever I'm somewhere that has Toon Disney (and it's actually on). They really were written in ways that make them still funny today. And they don't make me want to stab an ice pick through my eyes.

I really think that children's programming has gotten a lot lazier nowadays. I mean, there is some great anime out there, but most of the better stuff is made for teens which makes it annoying when they tone down the dialogue so they can put it up on Saturday morning. And the stuff that isn't imported is sludge with pop-culture references in it to make it appeal to kids who want to be older than they are.

Wow... I didn't mean to rant about that. I will admit that occasionally there's a show that is really amazing (Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends comes to mind). I probably am forgetting all the crapy shows from when I was growing up too. Any of you remember any crappy cartoons from yesteryear?

97kgriffith
Mar 13, 2009, 10:59 pm

I think everything since Doug has been pfffffffffffftttttttttttt. I was in my early twenties and loved that one.

98Espeon200
Mar 13, 2009, 11:22 pm

I like to make the distinction of Doug pre Disney. When Disney go ahold of it they turned him into the male version of Pepper Anne, and in the process, got rid of most of its charm.

99catbastet
Mar 13, 2009, 11:31 pm

I used to have a bunch of cartoons that I watched regularly, but the networks kept getting rid of them in favor of annoying shows. Now there are maybe three still on that I watch. *sigh* It just makes me sad.

96- We have the first season of Tailspin on DVD! That show is great.

100jugglingpaynes

#97: There have been some good cartoons since Doug, but it depends on what you like. We've enjoyed Foster's Home (is that still on?), Teen Titans, and Justice League Unlimited.

Did any of you ever watch Beakman's World or Bill Nye? Those were the best kids science shows ever!

101Renald128

I loved Beakman's World!! and I also liked Popular Mechanics for kids. I think there have been some good cartoons lately I really like Foster (which I think is still on JP) and Fairly Oddparents, I think both of them are good because they are actually FOR kids. When I was a kid I watched many cartoons: Doug, Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, Animaniacs, Freakazoid, Rocko's Modern Life and many more.

This is a really lame six-degrees-of-separation story, but Bill Nye came to University of Illinois for their Engineering Open House weekend and one of my friends got to drive him to the airport. :)

And I loved Beakman's World and Bill Nye - as well as the earlier incantation Mr. Wizard - when I was younger. I think I have them to blame thank for my two science fair medals and my current research career nerdiness.

I was a Mr. Wizard fan and I watched Bill Nye when he did the Mickey Mouse Club (pre-Britney and Justin) but by the time he had his own show I felt that I was "too old" for him, meaning I was in high school

I watched Bill Nye when my children started homeschooling. I watched Beakman when I was in high school. I think Beakman had a better gross factor for teens.

I am glad to see the Thundercats coming back to Cartoon Network, probably in July 2011(?)
