Mittens

It's been cold here, and I've been wanting a new pair of mittens... and perhaps foolishly, I want them to be of the pointy, patterned Latvian variety.

I tried making up a pattern as I went, and ended up with one too-pointy mitten and a lot of frustration. I can vaguely recall once having read a knitting book about making them, which included charts and design hints, but I can't remember the title!

Any suggestions as to which book it might have been?

You might be thinking of the book Latvian Mittens. :) Folk Mittens also has patterns like you're describing.
