I was really looking forward to the experience of this book group, however, I just cannot get into this book, so unforunately, I am going to drop out. I have tried to get through and managed only Sections 1 and II and I really don't like this book. I hope that it is just me and that everyone else will enjoy it.

My sad regrets. Cheli

I also must disenroll from this one. i've read over 100 pages, and it's just not grabbing me at all. I never liked Margaret Atwood, but thought I'd give it a try in a group. I've both read, and listened to the audio. Not my cup of tea at all....I think it's the WEIRD WEIRD WEIRD sections about ancient whatevers that are getting to me. I truly hope those of you remaining will enjoy the experience, and maybe some day I'll figure out what the Booker price was all about. Good luck and happy reading. Tina.

My book shipped! I will be ready to go in a couple of days. My daughter liked the book, so I think that I will, too. :)

Tortoise, I am enjoying the book so far. About to finish up section 3. It does take a bit to get into the flow of how it is written so it was a bit slow to start. However, once I got the hang of the style it's been great. So I don't think it's a strike out, but it is an odd one that not everyone will be able to get into.

I found the beginning of the book a little jarring, but I'm now halfway through and having problems putting it down. The weird sci-fi bits have gone away for now, though I'm sure more will pop up at the end.

What with a new puppy to train and a book to complete, I'm doubtful I'll be able to re-read this one with y'all. I will watch and learn.

Good fortune!

I got the book last summer but never got around to starting it now this group gives me the chance to do just that. I've never read The Blind Assassin before so I really don't know anything about the book except what may have been discussed over in The Atwoodians Book Group. It seems that I shouldn't be to far behind everyone else in the group here since everyone here only started reading the book on the 9th.

I too have had this book on my shelf for a while so this is a good opportunity for me. I'm only on the second chapter but I'm liking it so far.

Thanks for the welcome. I hope I do a much better job this time around than I did for the coffee trader-- I got overwhelmed by grad school and never finished that one... Here's hoping for a more successful attempt!

I'm still digging around here for my own copy -- I may have to resort to the library. Rest assured, I will catch up with you all eventually.

The book was ordered from the library a while ago, and is now sitting in my TBR basket while I finish up For Whom the Bell Tolls for my local Book Club. Looking forward to starting it soon!

I am just starting The Blind Assassin so right now I will be far behind everyone else who joined a little earlier and have been reading the book a lot longer too, I'm going to have to dedicate a lot of time to the book just to catch up with everyone else. The Reading Schedule listed only gives me 5 days to read 302 pages and get to Book V.

I just wanted to report my progress with the book so far. As of right now I am on page 42 of Book III of the Chapter The silver box. I am enjoying reading the book so far. I'll keep everyone updated on my progress with the book. Right now I think it is a very distinct possibility that I might just be able to catch up with everyone else and make the Reading Schedule deadline by being at the end of Book V page 246 by the 22nd. It's not as bad as I had previously stated when I thought I had to get to page 302 which is actually well into Book VII.

I am very much enjoying the book as well. I'm just about on track with the recommended reading pace.
