Just wanted to start a new thread so that people just looking for progress on how the kittens are doing didn't get fed up of pics! So this is for info AND pics.

Well, the rest of them are cute too, but look at those little baby feet in the last picture!

Maybe just a close up in general. With some toes visible. :o)

27lunacat

#26

Yup, they are very happy there, of course they came into the world there as well! They sleep in my room in a dog cage that is padded and with the door open of course. They only go on my bed when we're in there.

Luna wants to move them either to my bed or into one of my drawers but we are dissuading her :)

Gosh, I can't imagine why you wouldn't want kittens in your drawers! LOL
One of our cats, Rosie, will jump in any drawer that I open and then dig her way through the clothes as far back as possible. She also the hardest to pick up, so imagine trying to pull the Tasmanian Devil out of your drawer.

38lunacat
Apr 10, 2009, 10:54 am

Update:

Last night I didn't manage to get much sleep thanks to the little darling, or more specifically their darling mother.

The black one (now named Zita) ended up being put on my bed SIX times, and the whole family ended up on my bed 3 times. I consistently put them back in their nest but noooooooooo, that clearly wasn't where Luna wanted them last night.

However, today she has been perfectly happy to leave them in their bed, when she would be able to put them on my bed if she so wished.

Cats, eh???? They are adorable though, and walking a lot better without falling over quite so much. They are also much more aware of their surroundings and focusing on the people around them.

Now, if I could just get some sleep, I'd be very pleased to coo at them!!!!!

39jugglingpaynes
Apr 10, 2009, 11:18 am

LOL! You're persistent. I would have given up after the second time and either slept with them or moved to the couch. :o)

40lunacat
Apr 10, 2009, 11:22 am

Lol.......seemingly I gave up after the 3rd time cos my friend poked her head in this morning and woke me up and I was curled round Luna and kittens then, hadn't woken up until she said 'Did you put those kittens there?'

41jugglingpaynes
Apr 10, 2009, 11:26 am

ROFL!!!
Been there. With children and cats.
I think Luna must have been cold and figured it would be much warmer for her family if they all cuddled with you!

42lunacat
Apr 11, 2009, 9:52 am

Last night, as I settled into bed, Luna again persisted in bringing the kittens to me to sleep.

We came to a compromise though, and I allowed her to keep them in my drawer :)

#48 polly

Lol..........nope, she's ours. Her name is Zita, which means Little Hope according to a naming website and even if it doesn't, thats what we're saying it means! She is the runt of the litter and mostly gets bottlefed during the day and mummyfed overnight. However, she is the most inquisitive and aware of her surroundings, and is so active! She spends nearly all her time looking around and beating up her much bigger brothers.

News on kittens:

Weaning has started! Both little girls watched Luna eat some food and then Mouse started tucking in and ate nearly as much as her mum! Zita then came over and saw them eating, and then ate a lot as well.

We're so pleased, especially as Zita is now eating as she always misses out on milk and has gone off being bottle fed, so now we can do more to help her grow and catch up with the others.

The boys, however, are showing no signs of wishing to start weaning and are instead just desperately drinking from Luna.

Litter training is also not happening. Mostly, I have had little puddles all over my floor today, in different places!

71jugglingpaynes
Apr 25, 2009, 5:39 pm

So sorry about the litter training luna! I know how hard that can be. Do you have a low sided pan for them? Sometimes they have trouble climbing over a regular sized litter box.

72MEM82
Edited: Apr 25, 2009, 6:38 pm

#70 Isn't that just like boys! Just sit around waiting for mom to dish them up some dinner instead of going and getting their own. LOL

73MsDonna
Apr 25, 2009, 11:03 pm

#72 I thought exactly the same thing.

74Kerian
Apr 26, 2009, 2:44 pm

I've never had trouble training cats to use the box. We never taught Slinky, who's sort of wild. Something funny about her is that she will be let out of the house and demand to come back in just to run to use the box.

I agree with JP about considering a lower-edged litter box for the kittens.

75lunacat
Apr 26, 2009, 3:00 pm

They've got a low edged box already which is different from the big one downstairs. There is no problem with them getting in and out cos they play in it, even though we put a small amount of wet litter in it from the downstairs one so they could get the idea.

76jugglingpaynes
Apr 26, 2009, 7:52 pm

Well there's your problem! They think it's a toy! They don't want to get their toy dirty!

Did you deodorize the spots where they had their accidents? Because if they still smell it, they will keep going where they shouldn't. We had a huge problem with one kitten that kept using the newspaper recycling bin. I realized it was because I used newspaper to line the bottom of the litter box, so he assumed he was in the right place.

#75 luna -76 jp:
My younger two cats had thought the box was a play place, too.

Luna, maybe there is somewhere in your home you could accidentally make look appealing as a play place. All it takes is a box or to move a piece of furniture and their curiosity of a possible new play place will distract them. And I, too, would love to see more pictures.

Aww, I love those kitties. I want to be a cat lady (rescued kitties only) when I'm old.

I have a quick ethics question. If you accidentally selected a pic someone had posted on let's say for example LT, and it took you to their photobucket account is it ok to look at the rest of their pictures? Especially if that link took you to the motherload of cute kitty pictures that were impossible to resist.

90jugglingpaynes
May 1, 2009, 1:31 pm

Sooo cute! The mirror confused me for a second. I thought you had twins. :o) My cats were never able to climb our bed so well at that age.

Second to last picture in #87 with the kitten toes is adorable.

Mandy, if you got a kitten and it grew up with Pepper, wouldn't that work out? Or is it kittens that don't like her? I've seen some really mellow kittens. On petfinder they usually list if the kitten is used to dogs.

91Kerian
May 1, 2009, 1:36 pm

Oh, I hate when they go under the couch. Our second to last pair of kittens used to get stuck in it. One has caught it's little tail. I've never seen a kitten crawl up a cat scratching post. I wonder after seeing the video, do they ever all sleep at once?

#85 Donna:
I don't know how others feel about it but any pictures I post as public view are okay for anyone to see. Some are posted as friends only and can be seen only when signed into the group photo account, unless your name happens to be kirby. We're friended there. :)

#89 Mandy:
I think the dogs take to the cats better than the cats take to the dogs here. We have sweet shelties who would never hurt the cats but everyone only seems to be friends when there's a screen between them.

this is what occurs any time they are not eating or sleeping! At the moment I am sitting in our livingroom watching one kitten pulling clothes off the clothes horse, two fight within their tube and one play inside a box a package came in.

Our attitude has turned into: Roll on the 18th May when the boys go to their new mummy! I know we will look back and wish for that time again but they are so exhausting..........

104hailelib

Oh all those pictures are adorable. I love cats especially kittens. I own two cats and we just added a stray kitten. The vet thinks he is about 2 years old. My two original cats do not like him at all. They are always hissing and growling at him and he just looks at them like what did I do. I think he thinks the male one is his dad and always looks at him like come play with me.

These pictures are making want to have kittens again. Hubby would kill me if I brought any more cats into the house.

Thanks for sharing and can't wait to see more.

107> Not being argumentive but I never think of a cat over a year old as a kitten

109crazy4reading
May 11, 2009, 5:18 pm

Well compared to my other two it acts like a baby more then anything. It looks younger in the face too. I don't think of it as a cat because of his face. Yet he really isn't a kitten. We don't know if the cat had a home or if he was just left out by some one who didn't care. Plus the vet isn't positive on the age. The stray looks like the size of a normal cat but just doesn't have the look of an older cat, if you know what I am getting at.

121jugglingpaynes
Jun 27, 2009, 11:39 pm

Silly. They can't move. Powerless. They flop to their side and lay there.

And our cats tell the truth anyway. They give you a look that says "Yes, I did it. And I'll do it again as soon as your back is turned."

122picolina
Jun 28, 2009, 2:50 pm

Hehe, those pics are adorable. My first cat, Sebastian, was a really wild cat and didn't put up in a leash even when he had surgery and we had to prevent him from going out. Then he ran away.

Then we got Wilma. She kinda put up with a leash when we moved, but she didn't like it, so we let her go wild. Then she got hit by a car. :(

And now we have Lily and Elvira. They started out on leashes but then Lily got really annoyed at the leash so we let them go wild. Thing is, I think they're pretty used to staying close to the house because Elvira rarely goes out and when Lily does, she usually comes back in before we go to bed. But I've never tried walking any of them...

Those are beautiful pictures of your cats. I love cats!!

We have a neighbor who walks her cat on a leash. She doesn't like the fact that I let my cats roam free. I have seen her cat get off the leash and she has had to run after it before it gets away. I have tried leashes on my cats and they don't like it.
