I just got home from a Susan Wittig Albert signing (she's on tour for her latest China Bayles book, Wormwood). She's a very interesting person and very prolific. She's got a contract for another 3 China Bayles books, a contract for 3 more Beatrix Potter books (the last three - book number six will be out shortly), a memoir due out in September, and - most exciting of all - a new mystery series with the first book due out in 2010. This one will be about the Darling Dahlias, a 1930's gardening club based in Darling, MS.

Friday - the same bookstore is having a signing with Diane Mott Davidson. I'm on cozy overload!

How fun! Have you read the Beatrix Potter series? I read one of the mysteries Susan and her husband wrote as Robin Paige and Beatrix was a minor character in it.

Of course, reading your post is just making me drool and realize how pathetically far behind I am!

Great news about all the books on the horizon for Albert!

>2 gmathis: - I love the Beatrix Potter series. I'll be sorry to see the series end, but Albert says she never intended to carry it beyond Potter's marriage to Heelis. (1913, I think). This may be the reason she'll be starting the new series.

The other surprising thing I learned yesterday - Albert is 69! And she doesn't look a day over 50. Sure hope I look as good at her age!
