1Kerian
Hi, I'm Kerian. I first read Wicked in August of 2003. Since then, I've reread it a few times. I own two editions, one by Regan Books (Harper Collins), and the other being the musical edition.
Unfortunately, I have not seen the musical, but want to very much. I have the soundtrack, and my sister has played it even on roadtrips, much to her (not my) delight. (It was just too much.)
The day Son of a Witch was released, I rushed to B&N, and the cashier was so excited about it's release that she gave me her B&N membership discount. I have as of yet to reread it. Normally, I like to give books a one year wait before doing that. (It's true that a year has passed, but I'm in college. If I take up too much pleasure reading, I'm afraid I won't study.)
I've also read and acquired Gregory Maguire's other books. For anyone who doesn't know what they're called, I'll list them:
Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister
Lost
Mirror Mirror
While I've read "Confessions" and "Lost" twice each, I've only read "Mirror" once. I'm looking forward to future novels by Maguire, and hope he continues to write.
In the meantime, I hope others enjoy his works and the "Wicked" musical enough to discuss them here.
(By the way, 'Fabalous' - if you didn't get that - comes from Elphaba's nickname, Fabala.)

I read Wicked last year and loved it. Not at all what I expected. I would love to see the musical. Do they tour? I haven't read Son of a Witch yet but am definitely looking forward to it. I also have Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister but haven't gotten around to reading that yet either. I'd like to read the rest of his books as well.

I can't be sure if it's the same group of people that performs in "Wicked." However, I once saw online that, varying by time of year, "Wicked" was playing in both New York and California. For California, I was told it plays in San Francisco, and somewhere in southern California. (Close enough to Los Angeles that my aunt, who lives there, almost went to it.)
Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister was the first book I read by Gregory Maguire. I had bought it at the same time as Wicked, but a cashier had told me Wicked was better, so that's why I read "Confessions" first.

Hi, I'm ArmyAngel. I've read Wicked, Son of a Witch, and Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister (Confessions being my favorite). I also own Mirror, Mirror and Lost but haven't had a chance to read them yet.
I'm hoping to see "Wicked: the musical" this April. For a touring schedule, you can go to http://www.wickedthemusicaltour.com/index.htm and see if they're performing near you. Enjoy!

Hi everybody!!
I remember reading a review for Wicked in Jane magazine back in 1997, and thinking I HAD to read this book. I bought it soonafter, and the rest is history.
Love Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister and Son of a Witch. I have a horrible confession as a Maguire fan, though. I've had Mirror, Mirror on my bookshelf since the day it came out and still haven't gotten around to reading it.
Considering I'm stuck in Louisiana, don't think I'll get the chance to see the musical. *sigh*

Punky, I live in Louisiana too, and I'm planning on going to the Houston showing. Just because we're in Louisiana doesn't mean we have to be culture-deprived! :P

Thanks for the link armyangel. They're coming to a city pretty close to me this summer so I definitely plan on going!

I'm Ann (thegoodwitch). I've read Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, Lost, Son of a Witch, Mirror Mirror, and Wicked. I really liked Son . . . and I felt it had a beautifully hopeful ending. Wicked and Confessions . . . are my two favorites though.
I've been lucky enough to see Wicked twice, once in New York with the original Broadway cast, and once in DC with the first touring cast. It's a fantastic show.
Glad to meet you all!

Hi, Kerian invited me from over on Hogwarts Express. I've read Confessions and Wicked (twice). Son of a Witch is on my TBR pile. I think I liked Confessions better. I really loved the setting during the cornering of the tulip market, and the characters were cool. I enjoyed Wicked more the first time I read it, about 10 years ago.
At some point we should discuss Baum. I'm a big Oz fan.
