Doesn't look like anyone has started this week off yet, so I will. I read Someone Like Her by Janice Kay Johnson. It was excellent -- a real tearjerker.
I also read The Secret Wedding by Jo Beverley and really enjoyed it as well.

I'm reading The Charm Stone by Donna Kauffman, so far so good!

I had been taking a break from romance, but now with school finished for the semester I think I'm going to start Carolyn Jewel's Scandal which I've heard tons of great stuff about.

Just finished Nora Roberts' Northern Lights and am half-way through High Noon. My fiance snagged my copy of Twilight, so I'll read that when he's through.

I am reading an oldie but goodie, With All My Heart by Margaret Barnes. It is about Charles II and his queen Catherine of Braganza, told from her perspective. Just like mac and cheese - a real comfort read!

I'm reading Married by Mistake by Abby Gaines. It was a freebie for Harlequin Ambassadors that I got in the mail this month. I guess it was released in 2007, but they're sending it out again as a 60th anniversary special.
It's really cute and upbeat and fun to read. It's about a girl who goes on a reality TV show to marry her fiancé and he dumps her. The show's producer steps in as the groom to save her from embarrassment and ends up accidently married to her! I'm really enjoying this one!

>6 jenniandtony: That sounds so cute! I've requested it from BookMooch. Thanks for the suggestion!
I'm not reading a romance at the moment but in case anyone is interested I'm reading the urban fantasy Death Masks which is a Harry Dresden book by Jim Butcher. I should be done with this tonight.

>6 jenniandtony: That one's recently come out in the UK. I'm off categories at the moment, but given that it's in one of the lines with a bigger word count, I might give it a try.

I just finished A Little Magic by Nora Roberts, three short stories. They were just ok.
I'm now reading When He Was Wicked by Julia Quinn and am, of course, loving it.

Earlier this week I read The Pirate Lord by Sabrina Jeffries, finally. Just about done with True Mom Confessions by Romi Lassally. Then it is on to the new Debbie Macomber book,Summer on Blossom Street, it just came out on Tuesday, I picked it up yesterday and will probably start it this afternoon. Yeah!

I just finished reading Fearless Fourteen by Janet Evanovich and finished listening to The Deeds of the Disturber by Elizabeth Peters.
I have just started The Forbidden Lord by Sabrina Jeffries since I purchased the trilogy when we decided on the April group read. It's proving to be just as operatic as the first one. But what the heck, it's fun.

I finished Carolyn Jewel's Scandal last night and thought that it was fantastic, despite a few flaws. It was a nice change to have the hero be in love with the heroine from page one of the story and to have him not be shy about declaring his feelings.
I'm not sure what I'll read next, though I think I'm leaning towards The Charm School by Susan Wiggs.

Ha ha! Any long-lost star-crossed brothers who are mortal enemies in love with the same woman yet, mamalaz? ;-)
I haven't been reading much romance of late (although I have been reading a lot about it) but I did finish Teresa Medeiros' Yours Until Dawn, which was good but not among my favorites by this author, and I'm a little more than halfway through a reread of Judith Ivory's Beast (again a good but not great book by one of my favorite writers).
Both books are adaptations of the Beauty and the Beast theme incorporating heroes who are scarred both physically and emotionally. I think Medeiros did a better job with this same theme in The Bride and the Beast, which, in my opinion, has much better pacing, more engaging characters, and just generally more passion and zest than Yours Until Dawn which felt sluggish and a bit formulaic to me.
Once I finish 'Beast', I plan to move on to Barbara Michaels' gothic romantic suspense novel The Master of Blacktower.

Still having trouble getting into anything (so so busy at work) but I have ordered my copy of Smooth Talking Stranger by Lisa Kleypas. I'm hoping it is as good as Blue eyed Devil.

I just finished Surrender by Pamela Clare and loved it! Highly recommend this book that takes place during the French and Indian War in upstate NY with a transplanted Scot as the hero - gripping and hot! Now, I'm starting Too Hot to Handle by Robin Kaye.

Im about 3/4 the way through Lover Avenged by J. R. Ward and I'm trying to take my time because it is sooo good - I dont want it to end! In my opinion this is my favorite so far in the series. Although the book is on Rehv there are several back stories and its a page turner.

> #17, Lam, I hope you enjoy The Charm School. I read it a while ago & thought it was great fun.
> #18, Marietherese, no long lost brothers BUT there's a parson's daughter pretending to be someone else, even though she doesn't want to, some blackmail, and a bunch of other convolutions. This author really ought to consider writing a libretto!! I think it would go over very well at the Met, providing, of course, it would be set to some good music by someone like Verdi, Rossini or Mozart:-)
I just finished Pompeii by Robert Harris which was excellent. Now I am reading At Last Comes Love by Mary Balogh. I think it's one of her best books ever.

>#23 mamalaz, these Jeffries' books sound a bit like what I label "everything but the kitchen sink" romances. You know the kind, where the author just throws in every melodramatic scenario she can think of, piling one unlikely situation on top of another until the whole plot just sort of implodes. Very much like those early Verdi librettos! ;-)

I just finished Too Hot to Handle by Robin Kaye and am now beginning Whisper of Roses by Teresa Medeiros

I'm finishing The Chance by Edith Layton. I do love her books, and this one is excellent too.

I finished up Hidden Riches by Nora Roberts last night. I'm not sure where I'll go next since I just received three boxes of books from an ebayer and also went to the library...decisions, decisions..:-)
